Quiet undercounter beverage center?
Comments (6)Since no one else is jumping in to offer a recomendation, I will tell you what I learned when doing some research on beverage centers (although my design doesn't allow space for one). First of all, if you are looking for one with the glass doors, you should be aware that many of them are designed to chill wine, not beer, and will not get cold enough to properly chill beer, soda, or milk. Check the specs very carefully to see what the temp range is. I think the best ones out there are Perlick, but they are priced accordingly. You should be able to do a search here on GW and find quite a few threads discussing the various brands. Before I abandoned the idea due to lack of space, I had decided to go with refrigerator drawers instead of a beverage center for several reasons. First was due to the temperature issue described above. Also, as DH and I are getting older, its seemed much easier to get a beer from the drawer than from a regular undercounter refrigerator - no bending. Also, the drawers just seemed much more versatile. Just my 2 cents....See MoreNeed advice on fridge, range and beverage center
Comments (8)I know there are folks here who love Liebherr, but the one DH and I drove an hour to go see did not impress either of us at all. My favorite built-in fridges are SubZero and Thermador. I got Thermador before Subzero introduced their new line and I'm very happy. If you get an icemaker, look at where it is located in that model. Subzero puts the ice bin at the bottom in some of the freezers and I did not like that at all -- we use too much ice here in TX. I would not chose Viking for a $500 rebate. You might look at whether you can buy a package of Subzero and Wolf and qualify for a package discount -- or get your dealer to make a deal on another part of your package. As far as a beverage center, that can mean a different things to different people. Again, you might look at Subzero if you can get a package deal. I went with Perlick for fridge drawers that would be really cold for milk and juice, not just cool for sodas. They also have higher BTUs and quicker recovery of the cold temp which was important for frequently opened drawers. The drawers also make it easy to reach things -- they come to you instead of having to dig into an undercounter cave....See Moreundercounter fridge versus undercounter beverage fridge
Comments (4)Hello! We can provide some clarity as to the differences between an undercounter Refrigerator vs. Beverage Center. A glass door refrigerator typically offers an interior with adjustable glass shelving, whereas a Beverage Center typically offers a mix of adjustable glass shelving + 2 rows of wine racks. See images below. U-Line specializes in undercounter refrigeration, so I encourage you to take a look at our product collection (learn more here: http://www.u-line.com/?___store=us). As mentioned above, our Modular 3000 Series product line was launched in 2011 and is comprised of our ultra-premium product offering, designed to provide the ultimate in point-of-use flexibility. We also offer a 2000 Series and a 1000 Series which offer lower price points. Let us know if we can help answer any additional questions!...See MoreSubzero undercounter fridge or beverage center
Comments (2)I prefer the look of a solid panel. It's somewhat more fun to show off a wine collection than a juice/soda collection. And maybe not seeing the drinks will make them reach for water more often? Plus, if you are planning a big dinner and need overflow food storage for a bit, the non-drink fridge space could come in handy....See Moredottieq
