Quiet under counter beverage refrigerator center
Comments (4)We had a new SubZero undercounter beverage fridge (also glass front like yours) installed last week and that thing is driving me INSANE with the racket. Ugh! Not under 1K but a little over 2K. Just mentioning in case you get info that leads you to believe paying more might make a difference. Nope! In our case it did not. We have a newer SubZero regular fridge too and that isn't noisy at all...having their regular sized refrigerator/freezer, which is so nice, quiet, just overall awesome, is why we thought getting their undercounter beverage center would be a good idea. Figuring it would be less noisy was the #1, top reason too. I will say it again: wow, were we wrong on that account! So disappointing as unless I turn on the TV and blast it, the noise of the new SZ beverage center is just so irritating. And loud. Real loud. Not the atmosphere I was hoping for in my kitchen and common area...The only good news is that the unit didn't go into a bedroom. Thank goodness for small favors I guess!! *acorcoran* the Electrolux sounds great! So envious!! I will note that brand and model in case the SZ gets "injured" some evening - lol. I don't know how you would be able to tell about noise otherwise without personal recommendations of actual owners. I looked at all varieties in the showrooms and didn't notice excessive noise from the SZ then. Thanks for mentioning the name of a brand that does do well with the noise control. To the OP: best wishes and do I ever understand exactly what you are describing!!! I hope you find a good alternative!! Good luck and I mean that sincerely....See MoreCan a beverage center be used as an undercounter food fridge?
Comments (8)Look at Perlick for undercounter refrigeration. They have fridegs, freezers, wine coolers, drawers and combinations. Perlick makes the undercounter units used in stadiums and a lot of restaurants and bars. They are energy star rated, have a variable speed compressor, are no louder than a standard fridge, and have stainless steel drawers with glides that will hold more weight than I could figure out how to put in them. They can be integrated or have stainless fronts. We have the fridge drawers in out breakfast/coffee hutch and may put freezer drawers in our laundry room to get some counter space there....See MorePerlick undercounter beverage center/fridge - issues with shelves?
Comments (22)Advice if a Perlick is chosen and you have to install it yourself. (a) it is much easier to move it if you first remove the door (very simple) and the shelves and shelf glides (fairly simple) (b) keep in mind that when it slides along the floor into position, changes can occur to the adjustable support pads, and also that the floor may not be the same under the counter. Hence, level outside, move inside, measure level in three axes, pull out and set the pads to the approximate negative of any mis-level at the installed position, try again. Unlike SZ refrigerator/freezers, the back pads can't be adjusted from the front. (c) cabinets can look very square to the line of the wall but not be, and this will affect the Perlick alignment at the front as well as the door opening. Square up all cabinets relative to the line defining the cabinet fronts before bonding the counter to the cabinets. (d) countertop should be deep enough to allow the cabinets to be located a bit away from the wall behind them. Mine is 29.5 inches deep, but I had some stuff to avoid behind the 24-inch cabinets....See MoreSubzero undercounter fridge or beverage center
Comments (2)I prefer the look of a solid panel. It's somewhat more fun to show off a wine collection than a juice/soda collection. And maybe not seeing the drinks will make them reach for water more often? Plus, if you are planning a big dinner and need overflow food storage for a bit, the non-drink fridge space could come in handy....See Moreaprince
