I was doing a church funeral lunch....no tornadeos.....just lots and lots of rain and water in the basement....
But we were under a tornado watch ( that means there is a high probablity one could develop) Sunday evening....but no warning where I live ( a warning means they have spotted a tornado and are watching it's course.
I have christmas garland on my "tornado chair" in the basement...I guess I better clean it off and get my radio set up and my flashlight handy.
Last spring my son called from Chicago, hew as watching the radar on line and saw the hook right over my town, zoomed in and saw it pass about a mile north and west of me ( My house is near a highway intersection). He called and said where are you?..."Basement" I said!
Thanks for asking....hope this storm season is milder than the last...I have memories of groping my way through the very black night, guided only by the occasional lightning, trying to find a lighter to light a candle, and trying to make coffee with a senseo coffee pod on my gas stove....but it worked!

Thanks for posting. I'm glad to hear you dodged the tornado. Now if we can make sure Lowspark/May isn't floating in Houston.

We are so dry here; we have had more than 1500 fires throughout Florida this year.

Okay, gotta ask you, Sharon: spray paint in Amarillo? Good Morning America had a bit I saw on yahoo! about some of their people doing the Route 66 drive and they were in Shamrock and then it showed them spraying painting the buried Cadillacs "GMA". So, maybe you will be here Saturday night? hope so,,,It's not 104 here, don't think we've even broke 100 yet. have fun and we will see you in about a week. Brenda

The city of Ames, home of Iowa State University, is without water....not potable water but any water. Storm water caused a main to collapse, so the city shut down for a few hours to repair. close to 60,000 people can't even flush their toilet. we hope it will only be a few hours...but it could be as much as 24 hours. There were 4 cars swept off the road just west of me. A 911 call brought rescuers to pluck people out of trees and off of car roofs, but one 16 year old girl died. There is no estimate of how many homes and businesses have been ruined, but I will tell you the economic impact is huge. And the sad part is that so many of those who lost everything were students and people living in small homes and mobile homes that were washed away. And it was all an act of God...so unless you have a special very expensive insurance rider....not covered. This was not a hurricane...nor a tornado...nor even a nor-easter...just too many days of very heavy rain. No weeks warning allowing people to put up hurricane shutters and pack up, just one night a storm stalled and dumped another 5 inches on already saturated soil. In a small town 9 miles west of me, the Sheriff's deputies knocked on doors and told the people to evacuate. Many went to the Holiday Inn on the interstate....and then that too was evacuated. I won't complain about a wet basement and a river in my back yard.... Linda C

Oh, I totally forgot about the "cake gravy" part! I was still so blown away at the $18 each!! I had planned it as a side sale at your suggestion, but changed my mind with the gracious purchase of all three together so gave it as a 'bonus'. The lady was just thrilled and super tickled at your moniker 'cake gravy'(as were lots of others)! So, in the end, you won, I won, she has Easter dessert covered and the good folks further down south will be the beneficiaries! It was a great day! Thanks so much again for your help in getting my mind wrapped around some great, quick recipes!!

There are a couple of threads over on the conversations side too, I was looking for Glenda and someone told me that she had posted at KT, and I'm glad to see her post here safely. I understand that Beverly is safe too, but without power, and Jude is also OK. Everyone in the path of those storms has been in my prayers and will remain there, clean up is going to be a long process. As LindaC said, Iowa is still cleaning up from the catastrophic flooding after 2 years, so I'm sure clean up and rebuilding from this is going to take years, not months. I'm just glad our friends here are safe and hopefully the storms are over so rebuilding can begin. Annie

Glad you're ok Linda!

Cathy, you are a sweetheart to think of me! We definitely had some torrential rains last night - it poured and thundered, waking me up around 4 am. We've had some really heavy rains in the Houston area over the last two weeks and lots of flooding.

In my immediate vicinity, there was lots of high water on the roads, especially on the freeway feeders. The bayou near my house was about 5-6 feet from cresting as I passed by it on the way to work at 7 am. And my side of town is not the worst of it. West of us the flooding is even worse.

Fortunately I only drove through one spot of probably 6" of water on the way to work this morning. There was lots of traffic as high water blocked many routes but aside from that my drive to work was without incident.

My biggest concerns are driving IN the rain when it's coming down in sheets as it was in the wee hours, and driving through high water, which I will never (again!) do. Luckily neither of these things happened today.

We're supposed to get more rain this afternoon. I'm hoping that by that time much of the water will have receeded. I'm due to get a pedicure right after work and I need groceries... so I hope I don't have to swim to those two errands!! LOL

Lowspark, I saw a report that there was a tornado warning in Houston, and I thought of you. I'm glad you're okay. I'm glad you're okay, too, Linda. Too bad about your basement, though. We don't have to worry about that in Texas, because basements are rare here. I don't know why, but they are.

Glad to hear you are both safe and sound.

I think someone is trying to rattle the Trailblazer's cage, LOL.
