Wow love everything about this bathroom! Into my inspiration file it goes. Love your mix of classic tiles and the close up of your niche is very helpful as is seeing your tile "baseboard". A few more Q's if you don't mind... Like your square towel bar and accessories. Can you please give me the source and style info for those? Your sink and shower bath fixtures are the same suite? Design advice pleae... I'd love something similiar in one of our bathrooms that has a seperate tub and shower. If you had a seperate shower would you have carried the basketweave floor into the shower floor and if not what would you have used? What do you use to clean the basketweave floor? Love green and I love you cabs. What type of paint was used and did you paint them yourselves? I've been thinking I would add a little color accent with a narrow band of tile, but now I'm thinking painted vanity! Thanks for sharing.

We went with honed. I think technically they had it labeled as tumbled marble. I thought it looked a little less formal, if that makes sense to anyone other than me, than the polished. I don't find the basketweave portion to be slippery. We used a larger honed tile for the smaller room with the shower and toilet. I did slide a little once on that, but now I'm just careful to step on the mat and make sure the bottom of my feet are dry before stepping onto the floor. We sealed it and have not had any problems. I vacuum it with a hard floor attachment and have spot cleaned a few places. We've been using the bathroom for about six months and it's been very low maintenance.

Hi Marcia, I have 12x12 honed calacatta marble on my bathroom floor. I'm using 409 Stone cleaner diluted with water to clean them. I also use the 409 on the vanity and tub deck so it makes it easier to have one cleaner. I'm too lazy and cheap to order anything more expensive and the 409 is available at my local grocery store. I have used diluted Oxy Clean to clean my shower floor which is also marble but it's a mosaic and has a lot of grout. I'm really careful with getting drops of Soft Scrub on the marble while I'm scrubbing the sinks but I think I'm going to just use the Oxy Clean mix on those too from now on. Neither product promises world peace but Pledge Multi Surface can clean stainless, glass and is MARBLE safe! I just picked some up and am going to try it out on an old remnant before I start spraying my bathroom mirrors and windows with reckless abandon! Update: Pledge Multi Surface is marble safe (I tested it on an unsealed, honed tile), cleans glass AND stainless. So, that brings my favorite, easy to get and marble safe products to a total of 3: 1. 409 Stone Cleaner spray 2. Oxy Clean 3. Pledge Multi Surface spray Did you save a few tiles to run tests on?

Steamers on grout or any natural stone will break down the sealer and remove it over time. I would suggest KlenzAll by Stone Tech sealers. It is a cleaner for natural stone which will also clean your grout. You'll still have to put some elbow grease into the cleaning but you won't have to go grout line by grout line. Once floor has been cleaned properly you will then want to reseal the entire floor. Use a SOLVENT based sealer for best protection and longevity of sealer life. Penetrating sealers do not absorb well into polished surfaces of stone. It would be best to use a topical sealer like an enhancer. Considering your stone is polished, the enhancer should not enhance the coloring much. I would apply 2 coats for best results. - You do not need to buy grout sealer separate. The sealer for the stone will also seal the grout. For cleaning purposes down the road; only use cleaners that have a neutral ph balance so that they do not etch your flooring. Do not use products that have a wax or a polish in them as they can create a haze on the floor that is very difficult to remove. I recommend you only use a cap full of Dawn dish soap to 1 gallon of warm water for cleaning your stone.
