BIN files, and google page

I recently did a disk clean up. Now I have two situations that may or may not be a result of that.

1. In my Recycle bin I have 6 icons for BIN Files, numbered 2,3,5,6,7, and one not numbered. (These could be from some email attachment that I tried to open.) Can I just empty the Recycle Bin and get rid of them?

2. My Google page has changed. The Google logo is still where it was but some of the options are now listed at the very top of the page, such as: images, video, news, maps, Gmail, more. Is this the Google Search page I have seen references to? If so, how did I get it? I didn't ask for it.

My understanding from something I read is that Google has changed their search page. That's all.

Don't know about your BIN files.

Thanks for the info. I liked it better the way it was. :-(

Wish someone would help me with the BIN question. :-)

I study linguistics and I didn't even know about Scirus. But thanks for letting me know. I'm testing it out now. But I do agree Google scholar is fantastic. One of the things it does, that Scirus doesn't seem to be doing for me as I look at it, is give me the article as the top hit when I type in a citation. I typed in the same citation in Scirus and just get links to relevant web pages. My whole dept. loves Google Scholar!

Ravencajun...thanks ...I didn't know you could have two browsers....I learn something new everyday...LOL Jean Mi....yes, I know about the 3 horizontal bars but I was looking for IE Menu...with File-Edit-View-Insert-etc...but I could live without it because Google Chrome is so fast.... Well if you had success with Malwarebytes perhaps it is not necessary to run Superantispyware. If you would care to try then as you start the computer keep tapping the F8 button and a screen will appear with start up options. Select safe mode, everything will look totally different to the normal startup because only essential drivers have been allowed to start. My concern was the fact you mentioned AVG was not running properly. That is a good indicator of trouble. On reading the initial post a second time it appears you overcame that issue

polarprincess- What do you have on your computer taking up a lot of space besides a bunch of photos? I have a computer with an 80GB hard drive, and I have never used more than 20GB. Are you loaded up with some programs you don't really use, or music files that you don't listen to? Also, you should not be storing pictures permanently on your hard drive, at least without backing them up onto an external drive and/or a CD/DVD. Look at it this way, when your hard drive fails someday -- as happens to many people -- are you going to have a bunch of valuable stuff permanently disappear because you only saved it to your hard drive? I've had several friends tell me that they wished thay had listened to me when I suggested they do a backup of valuable files...but they never got around to it, and then their computer died. I'm not trying to lecture you...just giving you a word of advice.

The BIN files are probably from viewing CD Rom images. I found an explanation of what BIN files are.

I did a search before I posted the question. (That is something I learned to do from reading this Forum long years ago.) I also found the link you posted, but it doesn't tell me if I can safely delete them.
