Ad-aware question

I have the newest free version of Ad-Aware on my PC (windowsXP).

In the older versions, there was a status bar (if that's the correct term) that showed how the update download was progressing. I don't see that on the new one. I've looked at the settings and didn't see anything that mentioned hiding or displaying it. Am I missing something obvious?

Over on the left side down below the STATUS bar is WEB UPDATE. Click on that. That's where they're hidding it now.

You're so right, Archie, and thanks. My DH blundered onto it this am, but thank you for replying. Boy do I feel dumb.

Confirmed, owbist. Going back to 8.1.2 corrected the problem. Watch out for requests to upgrade to Version 8.2 throughout the installation process. Click on 'later' any time you are asked about it.

My experience with Malwarebytes is its missing some bad guys all too often lately ... then superAntiSpyware seems to get most misses. fwiw; Microsoft now has a new download program.. an 'on demand' security scan... gig file, long scan.. read here.. Microsoft Safety Scanner Bad part is no definition updates... every ten days you have to reinstall the whole thing. Its a large download, and think maybe 1.5hr scan here. Picked up some minor junk the others missed. another fwiw.... For those familiar with Auslogics, 'Boost Speed' a special edition is being given away free... here at ... AdAware had problems about 4 years ago if my time machine remembers correctly. It took a while to get straightened out and I suspect they will try extra hard not to travel that road again. Perhaps you need to clean out all the odd bits on your computer with a disk cleanup and try again. Like the others, I have had no problems updating and running mine.
