making a hot link in an email?

I know people can make hot links inserted into an email, and "sometimes" it happens for me, I want to make it every time, is there a secret that I don't know about?

Shaddy, I know you have Windows 7. Are you using Windows Live Mail? If so, open a new blank e-mail, and a little over halfway across the top (the ribbon?) at the very top is the word Hyperlink. Click on that to create a link to a site. Hope this is what you're looking for.

I don't think a bug would be specific about the content... "Hi Granny, your comment went under the wrong post. Could you resubmit it? I shutter to think about all I forgot." Which came some time after I had put a comment under the wrong post on John's blog. John later found he had sent this email much earlier, but it had hung up somewhere probably a fault of his isp. This one was from john.best I responded via "reply" and it went directly to John. "Granny, please when you have time please check out my last post on the gardenweb SFG forum." This one came right after John posted about his back porch, the BM and horse manure. This one was from john.best I again responded via "reply" and it went directly to John. The headers from both those emails are identical to the replies from John stating he hadn't sent them. Granny

albert- My response was to your first post. Looking at what you subsequently wrote, I'd say that it may make sense based on whatever filtering and spam identification software Yahoo has in operation. Spam filtering is a complex and imperfect art, and that folder with many links could have looked suspicious based on whatever algorithms were at work. If you try to send the links in the folder like you did at first and it gets kicked back again, that would likely confirm that this approach won't work. However, if you can use something else, like gmail or Hotmail, it may get through.

Kudzu9, I asked this same thing just recently...using Hotmail and Firefox. Below is a link to the thread. and here is part of it. When you click on 'new' to send a message in hotmail and start a new message you will see 'show plain text' under the subject line. Click on this and it will change to 'show rich text'. Paste your link and when you send it it will be clickable. You can check this in your 'sent' box. You might want to read it all though, as I have an AOL friend who says they are not clickable for her from me. but I have some computer-challenged relatives who haven't quite mastered the concept of cutting and pasting a link, I too know lots of folks who do not know how to copy and paste at all. Yes, that's what I needed. Outlook is the client or 'application'. The fix is made within the browser, I am assuming IE8 or 9. Click on Tools from the toolbar in Internet Explorer 8 (or 9) and select Internet Options . Then select the Programs tab from the top of the window to access the default browser settings. Click on the 'Make default' button, you can even choose to be alerted if Internet Explorer is not your default browser. Click OK to save your changes. Close IE and try again to access your hyperlinks. There is also a Microsoft 'Fixit' for this if the first step is unsuccessful. Cripes, I forgot to add what email programs I am using. I use Gmail, Yahoo, and Charter which is my main home mail.
I seldom look at those things owbist, so wouldn't have realized that was an icon for a hot link, but thanks so much for calling that to my attention, tho I do not use outlook, would it perhaps be in yahoo, or gmail also?
Grandms, I do not use live mail either, so gotta look elsewhere I guess. I will try and figger out sumpin with the info you folks have provided, and thanks so much, at least it is a start.

With gmail, when you open a page to compose your message, look in the bottom left of the panel and click on the + icon.

That allows you to insert a clickable link.

I goofed, when I said Charter email, I am using Thunderbird, got other things in my head I guess. But have searched the questions, and it seems it turns to a hot link in TB when sent to someone. Spozed to try it to myself, to check, and won't let me send to myself, gotta research that now to see what is going wrong.
Thanks for all the info folks, have looked, and found, and am tickled to think that I can do this now, at any time I want to. Many thanks for teaching an old dog some new things!
