Opinions on Toto cast iron tubs - are they comfortable?

I have to order a tub within a day or so! I've been looking around, and reading this forum, but I have not yet made a decision. I have pretty much decided on cast iron. I have read here that the finish on Toto's cast iron tubs is better than Kohler's.

I am looking for a drop-in model, white, 5'-5.5' long, fairly narrow. I have considered the 1150P and the 1700P. The 1550 is almost 24" deep and, although I like the simple lines, I am thinking that it will be very hard to get in and out of. The 1700 is 18.5" deep, and seems more manageable. It is 5.5" long, though, and I am not sure that such a long tub will be comfortable. I am also wondering about the slope of the back.

I have been to several stores to try out tubs, but there are really very few models available. I have not been able to find these Toto models anywhere around here. (I can buy them, but not try them out.)

Any experience?

I know it's been awhile, but I'd love to hear what you decided...and how you feel about it 9 years later! We're currently deciding between Toto vs Kohler for an alcove tub. While I've been able to see the Kohlers, I can't track down the Totos which makes for a hard decision!

We're also curious! Trying to decide between Toto 1525 and Kohler Mendota, but can't find either in the showroom to look at. We're leaning towards the Toto only because of the long wait time for Kohler because of the fire at their cast iron factory. I don't want to wait 3 to 6 months for a bathtub!

I don't have a photo... but do have the tub. I like it, nothing particularly special about it. Was going to go with the Kohler, but decided on the Toto toilet so picked up the toto tub. Its deeper than the Kohler villager and on par with the Kohler Medina?

V & A 'Amalfi' or Toto cast iron

Deciding between a deep Toto cast iron undermount and the V & A "Amalfi". The Amalfi is a slipper shape and is beautiful. At 65 with an artificial knee, I can still get in and out of it but wonder if anyone my age or older (I will get older!), has one of these stand alone V&A tubs. If so, is it difficult to manage or not? I can mount a single grab bar on one long side. It will be open on three sides. All opinions are appreciated.

When we installed our Toto cast iron tubs (1525's), DH "wrapped" as much insulation around them as he could, while the walls behind/around them were still open. Someone here mentioned doing that. We are very, very happy with our tubs, BTW. If we ever move/have to re-do bathrooms, we'd use Toto cast iron tubs again (maybe longer ones if space allows).

People have liked their Toto toilets. Toto doesn't have that minimalist look that the Bellwether has IIRC. I have cast Iron Bellwether 30x60 and it has been a great tub for a lower tub, like the villager. Good one for shower/tub combo, or bathing kids and pets. You are looking at the original Bellwether. Did you know that it has a very short bottom? It also has a significant slant to the front end at the spout and requires a longer spout, to clear the slope as the water falls to the drain. That was a complaint by some in the years past. The Bellwether I have is a standard install, where the one you are looking at needs the drain placed specific to the tub, as it is not your standard placement from the alcove wall. Check the specs and compare those with a standard install such as the Memoirs, which I believe is more standard plumbing placement.
