WhirlPool GFG461LVQ Gas Range

I am in the market for a gas range, and I would prefer a white-coloured range to keep the unit looking clean without having to worry about fingerprints that is prone with stainless steel.

I've done some initial research and it seems that the Whirlpool offers one the highest BTU's on the burners (17,000 BTU/hr, 15,500 BTU/hr, 9,500 BTU/hr, 8,000 BTU/hr) and also offers convection cooking. What are some things that you have heard about this model?

Most of the reviews from users are quite good. However, some have mentioned paint peeling on the range. Has anyone experienced this on gas stoves in general?

Is an extended warranty recommended for gas stoves? This is my first gas stove and I've used electric all along, so this is new territory for me. I've been told by friends and relatives that gas allows much better temperature control, which makes sense as the flame directly contacts the cooking surface.
