Can't organize my floppy's to burn them to a disc

I downloaded my 250 picture floppy's onto my hard drive a few weeks ago. I downloaded them one by one and they were all in the order of date taken when I downloaded them into my pictures folder.

Now that I'm ready to burn them they are all in alphabetical order and won't change even when I go to view/date taken or sort by date taken or stack by date taken. Don't know how they got in alphabetical order in the first place. As I was downloading them they were each in their own folder in order they were taken but no longer like that.

How can I change them back to the way they were when I downloaded them?

I'm using Dell XP Studio 1737 laptop.

Any suggestions?

Wow you were brave to copy all those floppies to the hard drive, good for you.

The simplest way would be to rename each by adding a number in front of the current name. Start with 001floppyname and so on, do not use just 1 or you will have 1,10,11,12 and you do not want that.

The yellow flower is definitly euphorbia -- Euphorbia cyparissias or cypress spurge. It's listed as noxious weed in Connecticut and is poisonous if ingested (people may get a skin rash from contact with the milky sap). In Connecticut, it's one of the 61 plants governed by this statement under "Noxious Weeds" from the CT Ag Station: Prohibited Plant List: As of October 1, 2004, Connecticut state law (Public Act # 04-203) prohibits anyone from importing, moving, selling, buying, cultivating, distributing, or transplanting 61 species of invasive plants, regardless of any municipal ordinance to the contrary. I just installed Nero because my kids use it and said it was easy (I need easy) It looks to be as if you bring Nero onto your screen (this is what "I" would try first) and click CD at the top of the Nero screen. Then I would go to Nero Photo Shop and make any adjustments I want to make on my picture...you open the picture you have on your computer. Then...there is a "save" option there, and you can save as Local disc "C".....I haven't even tried Nero as yet, and have never burnt a CD (yeah, I should be answering a question...lol) But..that's what "I" would do to begin and see what happens. There are a lot of options to play with on the Photo Shop... I was also told that you can use CD's like you do floppy discs....only right click your open photo and "send to" not "save as"....and it should go right to your CD when you send it there.

bg - I followed your instructions, but ran into a problem at: "On the tools tab, select Check Now" I don't see that option anywhere. Should I have been in safe mode? Nevertheless - I think I may have figured something out. Let's see if I can explain this. I only have one floppy with Word documents on it. Luckily I have copies on my C drive. I went back to the beginning and started over. First I went into Word, inserted that floppy and tried to access the documents I know I have saved there. Got the Access Denied message as stated in my original post. Next I went into My Computer with that disk still in the drive, clicked on A: and got a message that the disk was not formatted. What? It was at one point since I have lots of documents saved on it. I also label my floppies, so I know I didn't have the wrong one. Went back into Word, inserted a different floppy, opened a document on my C drive and tried saving it to the new floppy. IT WORKED!! I could save it and then I could open it. Didn't get the Access Denied message at all. So I guess it was a floppy disk problem. I still don't know why I got that: You do not have access to the folder 'A:\'. See you system administrator for access to this folder. message if the disk was bad.

hi dena eft, I haven't been here for a couple of months but I was about to post when I read this. Last night was one of the worst nights I have had in the time I have been menopausal. The hot flashes have returned for some reason after several months of being free of them and I have been hot in bed again. However, this was completely different. From the moment I got into bed I was hot. I couldn't get comfortable because even my legs touching was unbearable. My body just felt hot from the inside and I was aware of waking every hour or so. I was also having some weird dreams. The next thing that happened is kind of difficult to explain because I was in that half asleep/half awake state. I felt as though my heart was about to burst out of my chest and I had a burning sensation working its way up from my feet. I felt like I was on fire. I can honestly say I thought I was going to die. At the same moment I had one of those awful nightmares when I feel like there is something standing over me and I cant move. When I got up this morning I felt awful and I had no energy and that feeling of muscle weakness. I don't know how I managed my shift today. I have to say that since the end of June I have felt really well. I don't take HRT and I take a few vitamins and flax seed and I thought this was helping. Now,in the past 2 weeks I am suddenly having lots of symptoms returning and tonight my stomach is cramping and I feel like I am about to have a period. My last one was January! I also have feelings of dread today and I am struggling to keep from crying. I thought I had experienced all the symptoms I could and I have posted quite a few times here with some other weird ones but this burning is something else. I'm not sure I can cope with this anymore, I'm only? 50 and its been more years than I can even remember now. I'm tired of it all coming and going.I would be interested to know if anyone out there gets the good months/bad months situation. Sorry if I've gone off at a tangent but I do know what you're talking about and its not nice.

You are most welcome, I just feel your pain having to go all through them again. At least you will not have to wait while each floppy loads this time.

It might be adviseable to create 5 sub folders and split 50 into each to make your task a little easier. They can all be copied back to one directory once the task is complete.

Perhaps you already know but you can open 2 instances of Windows Explorer and have them side by side if you have a reasonably good sized monitor even if they overlap a little. Then you can drag them to folders a little easier perhaps.

I didn't think about dragging them. I'm not too computer smart but it shouldn't be too hard just to put 2 windows side by side and drag them; so this is good advice.
You really have been a great help. I'll do as you suggested.

have you tried going to the area you have your pictures stored in their folders, and up top click on view then arrange icons by and select picture taken on.

You should be able to choose how to sort them also you may have the properties locked down you may need to change permissions. Sometimes it is read only or set some way that will not allow change with out changing settings.

also when you open one of the folders you should be able to go to view> choose details and select in that list what you want in the info including date picture taken and use the move up and move down arrows to move it to the top so it will know to use that info first, be sure to click ok at the bottom.

Some "photo organizers" put photos into a second directory without touching the original file in the location you first placed it. Have a look - search for a name(s) you remember and you will probably find your photos in the original location where you copied them.
