Sadly, this seems to be all over the road at this point. From no problems at all to any problem imaginable. Latest forum posts talk of all Outlook email tagged as spam. I've abandoned the update-from-v6 route, a clean install seems to provide the best results for the ones I've either done or repaired.

Raven, the scan with F-Secure came up clean. Thanks, Mikie. I highlighted and deleted all the files that were from partition D. Then I highlighted the 4 files from C (all were dated May 2005)and clicked to restore. A pop up message said they were successfully restored, yet they still show up in the chest as infected files, even after a reboot. That I do not understand. I think I will send them to Alwil to be checked, since I am almost 100% sure they are not infected files. I followed the file path on each one and found them in the proper places, so I guess that means they were restored. Tomorrow I will run another scan with F-Secure, and if these files are, in fact, restored that should indicate if they are infected. I think I've tried to make a mountain from a molehill, but that's just the way I am, a stickler for details.

Oh yeah.... and the SecurityEnhancedLinux packages are so secure that the NSA has released, and released for free too, all the SEL code and software into the public domain, and released it all free of charge too...something that all yer friends in Redmond were hoping would have never happened.... Hope you found this somewhat useful..... Oh yeah, and if you like a particular distribution, you can even make 1,000,000 copies and give them all away, should that be your desire. More and more distro's are even including software so that you can "customize" a distro to your liking and then make a million copies of your newly modified OS, and give away the resulting OS/software package, with your name on it even if that's what you want to do with it........You should give Redmond a call and ask about doing that with an MSFT issued OS... You need to start over. And are you sure you bought a CD-RW and not just a CD-R? Also, you can only re-write a CD so many times before it becomes corrupt. The files you originally wrote to CD are protected and probably "read only", also check what preferences you have checked on the Nikon and ScanDisk card (for what it's worth, I have two Nikon D80 and a couple ScanDisk cards-not to mention at least 4 other digital cameras and enough SD/flash cards to flll a landfill-dating back close to 10 years). Your only choice is to download them to your desktop (or someplace easily remembered for a minute) and rewrite the CD without any read/write restrictions, which can be found in properties. Also, are you deleting the files on your camera and SD card when you download to CD or your computer? If not, you have probably run out of space. Another thing, that Nikon "Picture Project" software, if you are using that, is a pain and not worth installing. It could be contributing to your problems. What program "thinks" it's your default photo editing program? That could also be causing problems. You say you are using Olympus software but a Nikon camera, did you load the Nikon software too? All these camera manufacturers have their own proprietary software (and websites), you don't need it or want it. It's better to go out and buy a copy of photoshop than have a bunch of proprietary photo editing programs on your computer, unless you know how to over-ride them, including Windows Picture and Fax program.
