you can uninstall through add remove programs or get revo uninstaller and use it, it is a free program that is quite good.

partition D can indeed get infected which is why they always suggest you make copies of that backup partition asap.

I would suggest running malwarebytes and see what if shows and also do an online scan to double check your AVAST.

All AV programs will from time to time find false positives, sometimes it spots something with in another program that sets it off too. I know on my HP in the games it came with some items that my AV deemed malware, I did not need or want them so I just deleted all of that stuff.

* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.

* Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.

I already have Malwarebytes, so I updated and a full scan is presently running. I will also do the online virus scan. Partition D is no more.

Now, are you telling me to uninstall AVAST with Revo? If I do that, will I those files that I put in the vault be retrieved? I would just like to be sure that nothing that I might need has been removed. Thanks.

I also get false positives and have done thorough searches of all. I have found and they were items needed by MS or some software on my PC. I don't delete them anymore.

By the way, the computer is less than 4 years old.

I cannot get the online AV scan to run. IE keeps wanting to shut down, and when I click Debug, it tries again but the same problem occurs. It will not work with any other browser that I have.

no I was saying if you needed to try to uninstall those games and things you could use revo for that. I would not uninstall the AVAST, that is normal for it to find FPs on occasions and I don't think you have much to worry about with this. things put in the vault can safely stay there.

Thanks, Mikie. I highlighted and deleted all the files that were from partition D. Then I highlighted the 4 files from C (all were dated May 2005)and clicked to restore. A pop up message said they were successfully restored, yet they still show up in the chest as infected files, even after a reboot. That I do not understand. I think I will send them to Alwil to be checked, since I am almost 100% sure they are not infected files. I followed the file path on each one and found them in the proper places, so I guess that means they were restored.

Tomorrow I will run another scan with F-Secure, and if these files are, in fact, restored that should indicate if they are infected.

I think I've tried to make a mountain from a molehill, but that's just the way I am, a stickler for details.

always better to be safe than sorry. You can also send the files to this site, Jotti, upload them from their locations and it will scan them with a bunch of various programs and let you know the results.

urlee do you mean when you use the antivirus program that is on your computer? if so then no you do not have to be online, but you do want to make sure it has all the latest definitions prior to doing scans.
