Comodo question

I have just installed AVG 8 free, and had to click Comodo firewall it seemed like forever allowing AVG to download, should I have shut Comodo off while upgrading AVG.

I have everything installed and up and running ok.

I'm using Comodo because I was having trouble with zone alarm, but it bugs me also. Even though you put it in installation mode you still have to click several times. Maybe turning it off is the best solution. Probably should start windows firewall or disconnect from the internet while you have it off.

As long as I was doing it right will quit worrying, I do like the Comodo program.

Thanks to the ones who explained why LzD doesn't recommend ZA.. I should have explained it myself.. SORRY.. I don't seem to have the ask toolbar so I guess I was lucky. I don't like all these toolbars so I'm sure I clicked not to install it. It seems to be serving me well. I'll give him these names & he can check them out. I have found out U can't just grab any ole firewall or any download these days. Thanks again, Dar

Thanks everyone. I cleaned the computer (as much as I can right now, will probably remove more later), installed the recommended anti-spyware tools, installed Avast and Firefox, and turned on Windows Defender and Windows FW. Now I'm trying to set up the wireless connection which is giving me trouble. We have a wireless router and the set-up on the laptop is asking me for a security passkey which doesn't seem to be the same as our router password or any other password or security key we've been given. We have a router password. The Router documentation says to provide the SSID and WEP numbers during the set-up, yet it seems to ask only for the WEP. So, I seem to be stalled for the night.

Abreeze the best test is the one you have been doing since you installed Zonealarm. If you have had no known issues why would you change because of a test carried out by others? I read somewhere that those tests were on specific points. I have no idea where I read it nor did I search for more data. Zonealarm is possibly the most popular firewall out there. I used it for many years but had to swap because of a conflict I could not fix or I would still be with Zonealarm. Having said that, if you feel like a change then give Comodo a try, it is a good program. You will find that when a big Microsoft update occurs Comodo will ask you to validate each action that had been granted at some point in time. Not a big aggravation, especially if you look at it as a positive to help keep your machine clean

I ran it for a while and the "learning" process was definately something to get used to. Had to uninstall it and boy did I have trouble doing that. For some reason it didnt uninstall everything, because when I went into running processes, Comodo was still running. That was after reboots and everything. I think I will stay away from that one for a bit
