how to save a pdf file that is readible

Hello, everyone.

I am trying to save an e-book on my computer. It is an Adobe file, and the instrux says to right click and choose save as. When I do that, all that I get is gobbledy gook. I already have Adobe 7 reader on my computer, so I know there is probably some little thing that I am missing. I have Windows XP. Is there other info you need in order to help? Thanks a bunch

I didn't have an Adobe Book File to run a test on, so all I
could do was try this location for a free book download.

I choose Civil War - Red Badge of Courage as a test - Chapter 1 only. - I clicked save as and it was quickly delivered to my Desktop. Everything went OK.

Adobe 7 is the free version. Do you need the paid Version?

before changing any system or application settings, ensure the file is a valid PDF file and that it isnt correupted.

what is the link to the file so we can check it ?

Thanks mikie! I went to the search page and didn't take long to get a headache. I think this is going to be way out of my realm. First I changed a Word document into a pdf file and now I gotta embed it back into a html page. When I add the file to an html page, all I get is the page with my background scheme showing. Somehow, this was not what I had in mind. I know it's possible because I see it every day, but I'm just not smart enough to figure it out.Thanks again! Ida

A couple of other things have happened, too. All of a sudden I lost my sound, again, and I get a message saying "Found new Hardware" but it can't find a driver to install. Then my printer stopped printing and I get a message saying "Could not find Post Script Interpreter defined in your settings. Check your settings under Advance options.... applications." Has my computer been fried or is it something I've done and can be fixed? I did a restore system yesterday back two weeks but it's still not right. Again, thanks in advance.

I am not too sure that any simple PDF viewer/reader will allow printing of selected pages. You might consider bring the needed pages up individually then taking a screenshot - press 'Print screen' or 'PRN SCRN' next to the F12 button. Then paste it into your photo editing software or Paint if you have nothing better. Then save as an image. Long ago I used PDFCreator and it was great, no idea why I moved away but I have just downloaded it again. It is a versatile program. You really have two questions here. The second is the easiest, there are a number of free PDF creation programs out there. I use PrimoPDF and it works fine. As for your data, you can create reports in Access. I haven't used Access 2007 but it's not the most complicated thing to do although it's probably not as intuitive (or perhaps familiar) as Word. The other option is to create a mail merge in Word using the Access database as the data source. Pull out the information you want and order as you please.

http://www.simplegiftsfarm.com/frea-downloads.html is the link that lists the free ebooks that I was trying to download. However you have to subscribe to download one, but it is free. I followed the instrux but no luck. I've tried a couple of the ebooks listed there. I can see them on my screen, but not when I save them. I'll try what cboy did, now. I hope this is understandable and not too confusing.

I keep forgetting to add this next part.

"The Red Badge of Courage" (1895)
e-book : Palm : web version

I had to click and use the Web Version to download to my
Desktop.

I went to http://www.simplegiftsfarm.com/frea-downloads.html ,
right clicked Plant Thugs and in IE selected 'Save Target As...'.
Put it in myTemp folder & opened it fine with Foxit free pdf reader.

I downloaded "Perennial Plants of the Year" which opened in Adobe Reader. I then clicked on the icon to save and saved it to my document folder. When I re-opened it later everything was just like it should have been. However, I didn't try to save it until after it had opened in Reader.

works for me as well.

make sure you are clikcing on the link to the real pdf file and not a web page link, which will save an html document instead of the pdf.

Thank you so much. You guys are great! I haven't had a chance today to try it again, but I will tomorrow. If you don't hear back, then everything worked fine. I'm sure it will with the above suggestions.
