How do I enlarge a PDF file/pattern?

I have spent the better part of the morning trying to do this to no avail.

There's a free apron pattern available. I printed off the first 4 pages of the 5, but I'm supposed to enlarge the last page 400%. Every time I try to reset the size thing on the printer, it defaults right back to 100%. I've tried every which way I can think of to do this, I've enlarged the pattern on the Adobe Acrobat Reader to 400% and I've clicked on little sections and c&p'd them into a Works document, only to find out that it wasn't really 400% after all... There's just got to be an easier way. I have a HP computer, running XP and an HP printer (with a scanner that doesn't want to work) and I am bumfuzzled by it all.

Does anyone have a sure-fire solution for me? Am I missing something obvious? Why is such a simple thing driving me insane today? lol

On my setup with a canon printer when I click file > print and click 'properties' on the dialog box I can click 'page setup' and there is an option for scaled printing where I can choose to print at 400%. You might find something like that if you look around in the print dialog box.

Bob, as of today, I am intimately involved with every worthless feature of my printer. lol I tried that, I click on it, change it to 400% and it reverts right back to 100. So I turned on the poster option and picked the one that looks like it's 4 times bigger than a regular page and nothing happens, it just freezes up and doesn't print at all. Grrrrr! I'm thinking that should really do it, but what do I know?

I give up. I'll stop by a Kinko's or something and use one of their copiers and save myself the aggravation of this thing. Chances are I'll never even use it, but dangitall, I wanted to figure it out!

Are you on a Windows machine (versus a Mac)? If so, probably the easiest way to do it is 1. Open the PDF file with Acrobat Reader (or the PDF viewer of your choice). Zoom in on the plan so that what you want to capture is displayed. 2. Hit "Ctrl + PrtSc" to capture the current screen 3. Go to you favorite image viewer (e.g. Windows Paint) and hit "Ctrl-P" to paste the image 4. Hit "Ctrl-S" to save te image in JPEG format and then upload to your favority photo sharing site (e.g. Photobucket) Hope this helps! Good luck! Jaymie

A couple of other things have happened, too. All of a sudden I lost my sound, again, and I get a message saying "Found new Hardware" but it can't find a driver to install. Then my printer stopped printing and I get a message saying "Could not find Post Script Interpreter defined in your settings. Check your settings under Advance options.... applications." Has my computer been fried or is it something I've done and can be fixed? I did a restore system yesterday back two weeks but it's still not right. Again, thanks in advance.

It sounds like two issues are going on there - getting photos off your phone, and files having their extensions changed. For the latter, first you need to determine if the files were actually changed to pdfs or just the extensions changed (the dot and last three letters, as in .pdf, or .doc) Try right clicking on one file, choosing "rename" and changing the extension to what is was originally - .doc or whatever. Don't worry about the warning - you can change extensions as many times as you like. If it opens you're going to have to rename each file by renaming the extension. Programs that can rename, like the one included with "FileMenuTools", can do that in batches but if you're not a bit experienced it might feel a bit challenging. If it still doesn't open after changing the extension, something deeper has happened - the file itself may have been altered. If that's the case, I would guess you might have some sort of virus and I would do a completely scan with an antivirus and/or anti malware program. If I remember correctly you would have to make 4 stitches for each one in order for it to be the correct size. If you just do two it would be wider but not taller. You may want to try this on a scrap to make sure. It's been a long time since I did this and I figured it out for myself. Good luck and I'd like to know what your results are. ;-) Nancy

See if you have something like this:
Using a Canon printer. Do a ctrl-p or select Print, I selected Page Setup, shows Printing Type - where usual setting is Normal-Size Printing, and changed to Scaled Printing - where it allows from 20-400%, and changed to 400. Did OK and Print. Got huge print but stopped it before it printed 5 pages.

My printer is set up differently than yours, I guess, because I don't have that option, but every time I try to change to 400%, it reverts back to 100%. I did, however, get it to print out as a 16 page poster, which is almost 400% so I think I can make this work for me. It just makes me mad that something that should be so easy has eaten up HOURS of my time. Sometimes it pays to be stubborn, but not always.

It lets you print patterns to any size, automatically tiling across pages.
