How do I enlarge a PDF file/pattern?

I have spent the better part of the morning trying to do this to no avail.

There's a free apron pattern available. I printed off the first 4 pages of the 5, but I'm supposed to enlarge the last page 400%. Every time I try to reset the size thing on the printer, it defaults right back to 100%. I've tried every which way I can think of to do this, I've enlarged the pattern on the Adobe Acrobat Reader to 400% and I've clicked on little sections and c&p'd them into a Works document, only to find out that it wasn't really 400% after all... There's just got to be an easier way. I have a HP computer, running XP and an HP printer (with a scanner that doesn't want to work) and I am bumfuzzled by it all.

Does anyone have a sure-fire solution for me? Am I missing something obvious? Why is such a simple thing driving me insane today? lol

On my setup with a canon printer when I click file > print and click 'properties' on the dialog box I can click 'page setup' and there is an option for scaled printing where I can choose to print at 400%. You might find something like that if you look around in the print dialog box.

Bob, as of today, I am intimately involved with every worthless feature of my printer. lol I tried that, I click on it, change it to 400% and it reverts right back to 100. So I turned on the poster option and picked the one that looks like it's 4 times bigger than a regular page and nothing happens, it just freezes up and doesn't print at all. Grrrrr! I'm thinking that should really do it, but what do I know?

I give up. I'll stop by a Kinko's or something and use one of their copiers and save myself the aggravation of this thing. Chances are I'll never even use it, but dangitall, I wanted to figure it out!

Are you on a Windows machine (versus a Mac)? If so, probably the easiest way to do it is 1. Open the PDF file with Acrobat Reader (or the PDF viewer of your choice). Zoom in on the plan so that what you want to capture is displayed. 2. Hit "Ctrl + PrtSc" to capture the current screen 3. Go to you favorite image viewer (e.g. Windows Paint) and hit "Ctrl-P" to paste the image 4. Hit "Ctrl-S" to save te image in JPEG format and then upload to your favority photo sharing site (e.g. Photobucket) Hope this helps! Good luck! Jaymie

a really easy way to handle that is to simply convert it from a pdf to a format you are more familiar with and can work with such as a word doc or excel or something like that. There are some good free online converters and this one will even let you do the pictures just pay attention to what you select as to what to convert and what to convert it to. Convert PDF to Word (doc) or Excel (xls) document, extract Images from PDF Free Online PDF to Word Conversions this one only does conversion to word and will give it to you there with out having to email it to you. I also use zamzar and this may help you also How to convert a PDF file to Word, Excel or JPG format explains how to use zamzar etc.

I didn't have an Adobe Book File to run a test on, so all I could do was try this location for a free book download. http://etext.virginia.edu/ebooks/ E-book Library at the Electronic Text Center Wide range of publicly-available e-books from the University of Virginia Library in Microsoft Reader and Palm formats. etext.virginia.edu/ebooks/ - 14k - Cached - Similar pages I choose Civil War - Red Badge of Courage as a test - Chapter 1 only. - I clicked save as and it was quickly delivered to my Desktop. Everything went OK. Adobe 7 is the free version. Do you need the paid Version?

Adobe is a corporation, not a product or a file format. PDF, which you states in the subject correctly, means "Portable Document Format" - it is the file format created by Adobe's Acrobat software (and many other programs since Adobe publishes the PDF specification). That file format is actually a meta format of sorts and can contain all sorts of information in it, including illustration file formats, text as well as bitmap graphics in various image formats. You can upload any file to a web host or file hosting service. Not all file types will display in someone's browser and certainly not all files will display inline on one of these forum messages. If you want to just include a text link to the file you can insert a standard HTML anchor tag pointing to the hosted file or you can use the "Optional Link URL" feature included at the bottom of the posting/edit box. If you would like an image to appear inside your post then you should send up a file in a format that will display properly in the majority of people's web browsers and can be used with the HTML "img" tag. Definitely not a TIFF. A JPEG or PNG is recommended. Depending on what software you're using to view or edit PDF files on your computer you may be able to Save or Export the images you want out of the file. Otherwise one very easy way is to do a screen or window capture while viewing the file. The resulting image can then be cropped if needed (to remove any desktop/window graphics that don't belong in the original photo). If this is all Greek to you, you might be better off just uploading the PDF as first mentioned and including its URL in the "Optional Link URL" below. As long as someone has a PDF plugin or viewer they'll be able to view it. Then maybe someone will be nice enough to strip out the pictures you want out of the file. See if you have something like this:
Using a Canon printer. Do a ctrl-p or select Print, I selected Page Setup, shows Printing Type - where usual setting is Normal-Size Printing, and changed to Scaled Printing - where it allows from 20-400%, and changed to 400. Did OK and Print. Got huge print but stopped it before it printed 5 pages.

My printer is set up differently than yours, I guess, because I don't have that option, but every time I try to change to 400%, it reverts back to 100%. I did, however, get it to print out as a 16 page poster, which is almost 400% so I think I can make this work for me. It just makes me mad that something that should be so easy has eaten up HOURS of my time. Sometimes it pays to be stubborn, but not always.
