Travertine -with kids - filled or unfilled

I also posted this on flooring but thought I would also try here.

We are in the process of picking out the flooring for our new build. We love the look of Travertine - unfilled and rustic looking. It goes very well with the Tuscan feel of the home. We are very worried, however, about what our two young children will do to this flooring. Everytime I look at our sample, all I can see is all of those holes being filled with crushed goldfish crackers. I really like the rustic look of the unfilled. The filled travertine seems much to formal for the look of the home.

This home is being built with resale in mind and is 7500 sq ft (please no flames for building a McMansion). I have been told by my designer that I really need to steer clear of porcelein or ceramic for the main flooring due to the resale standards of the area.

I guess I am asking if anyone has any ideas or if they ave the unfilled travertine with kids and how it has held up?

Thanks for your help
