Problems with Adobe Flash Player?

I removed Flash Player after I got hit with massive malware on a government site, on both computers. This was several months ago, and the removal of malware was a major job. Has anyone had any problems with it in the last 2 months or so? I hesitate to re-install after all the problems I had.

I've had minor problems with the last/current version of Flash Player locking up the browsers and stopping internet for a few moments when on certain webpages. I assume it will be fixed soon as I've notice several others having seemingly identical issues.

Its supposed to be more safe than previous versions.. they update it mostly for protecting us from newer threats. If you think you need it .. install it. If you don't miss it.. don't install it. From things I've read its really approaching the time for it to be considered antiquated technology in newer browsers.

As I have previously reported it is my experience with the last several versions of FP that streaming on CBS.com routinely fails, and FF announes the problem was Flash.

A new FP beta is currently in release and the change log reports multiple stability issues. Maybe? Just maybe?

Worked OK for me and I have version 10 Flash Player too. Try shutting down the computer and restarting. How long as this been happening? Here is a link that might be useful: Mediaface

camp56, damccoy,ravencajun, and stargazzer, Thank you for the quick responses. Below are my answers to the questions you have asked. The browser is IE8. The version I downloaded yesterday was Adobe Flash Player 10 ActiveX. I uninstalled it, and downloaded and installed it again. Using START> Control Panel>Programs and Features I confirmed what I re-downloaded was Adobe Flash Player 10 ActiveX. The system I have is 32 bit. After downloading and installation, I still could not see any animation. I went to the sites that ravencajun suggested, went on YouTube too, saw nothing but the same dreadful messages " You don't have current Adobe Flash Player", or "cannot find Adobe Flash Player". I have not try Safe Mode yet. Will it help? How can I get to it? Thank you again for the help.

Thanks for the responses ! mikie -- Thanks for the links ! I uninstalled, restarted and then installed both versions you linked to. (I also have Comodo Dragon [Chrome] on my computer but rarely use it. We'll see if I still get some sort of error that that browser needs an AFP update.) Btw, when installing for FF I had to close the browser. When installing for IE I was not told to close the browser. Not being an IE user, I don't know if that is a big deal or not. But everything went smoothly. Thanks, mikie ! azinoh -- There are two user accounts on this computer. Mine is not THE admin account, but it does have administrator authority when necessary. I did the update for each browser as you suggested and used mikie's links. :-) esteban -- Although in most cases I do things the way owbist describes above, this time I used the Snipping Tool that comes with Windows 7. I saved the pic to my desktop and clicked "Browse" (next to "Image file to upload" above the composition area). Piece of cake. (Or pumpkin pie, if you prefer.) :-) I have not rebooted since doing these installations, but as far as I can tell my situation is resolved. Thanks for the help! :-)

I dont have the link to the trouble repair method on adobe site but basically its.... look in task manager for Macromedia & Flash Player, end all processes you find there.. Uninstall from control panel....then use the uninstall tool, delete all the folders and files you can find on the hard drive... Restart before installing fresh. Unistall tool; http://download.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/support/uninstall_flash_player.exe delete all folders and files you might find at these locations ; C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash %appdata%\Adobe\Flash Player %appdata%\Macromedia\Flash Player C:\Users\mike\AppData\Local\Macromedia Restart the PC and install fresh... for ie; http://download.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/licensing/win/install_flash_player_11_active_x.exe for mozilla; http://download.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/licensing/win/install_flash_player_11_plugin.exe

I re-installed it. Went to their site. I need it for our local map. I had notified Adobe of our malware, apparently they had been hacked. I gave them the 2 sites we got hit from. Thanks for the info Mikie, and damccoy. I appreciate any help I can get. I know of the article about the use of it being almost a dinosaur. But, some places do still require it. Thanks again!
