It looks like I got the problem resolved. I used REVO to totally remove FF and all references to it, including personal settings. I opened I.E and browsed the web and all worked well. I.E. is using the FIREFOX version of FLASH PLAYER 10______.34 which I manually installed into I.E. and it accepted. I then ran the install for FireFox 5.0 As it was loading it asked me if I wanted to import settings from I.E., I opted YES, I was then asked if I would like to make FF my default, I opted YES. Once done and without making any changes or additional additions or actions of any kind, FF imported everything I had in I.E. I went to several sites I knew Flash Player would be needed and everything worked fine. It appears as I suspected, there was a toggle somewhere in FireFox that got toggled to either TRUE or FALSE. I wish I could have determined which one, to have made this problem go away sooner. If time permits, I may play with them until I can recreate the problem. I was trying to download from: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/download/?installer=Flash_Player_10.1_for_Windows_Internet_Explorer&p=Google_Toolbar_6.5&d=McAfee_Security_Scan_Plus&os=XP&browser=ie&type=activex I made sure it was a download for Windows XP. Made sure I had enough room to download it. I am using IE8. I only use my AOL for email because I've had it set up since 1997 and I am too lazy to go around changing my email addy with all that have it for social and business. So I wanted the flash player to load for IE8 as that's the browser I use for all my searches/internet activity. I did just recently add service pack 3 to my computer and the first time I tried to download it I had problems. That's the first time my friend told me about this site here at GW. I ended up being able to get the service pack 3 on my second try. I tried a second time with Adobe Flash 10 and then again a third time but even though I get the message box that says it's been downloaded, I see that it's nowhere in the Add/Remove section. Thanks for the responses ! mikie -- Thanks for the links ! I uninstalled, restarted and then installed both versions you linked to. (I also have Comodo Dragon [Chrome] on my computer but rarely use it. We'll see if I still get some sort of error that that browser needs an AFP update.) Btw, when installing for FF I had to close the browser. When installing for IE I was not told to close the browser. Not being an IE user, I don't know if that is a big deal or not. But everything went smoothly. Thanks, mikie ! azinoh -- There are two user accounts on this computer. Mine is not THE admin account, but it does have administrator authority when necessary. I did the update for each browser as you suggested and used mikie's links. :-) esteban -- Although in most cases I do things the way owbist describes above, this time I used the Snipping Tool that comes with Windows 7. I saved the pic to my desktop and clicked "Browse" (next to "Image file to upload" above the composition area). Piece of cake. (Or pumpkin pie, if you prefer.) :-) I have not rebooted since doing these installations, but as far as I can tell my situation is resolved. Thanks for the help! :-)

What browser are you using? Have you tried a different browser? This is an attempt to limit the the issue to 1 browser. For delta search you will need to a bit more work to get rid of it entirely. To do that, download AdwCleaner Download from http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ Using AdwCleaner is very simple. Simply download the program and run it. You will then be presented with a screen that contains a Scan and Clean button. The Scan button will cause AdwCleaner to search your computer for unwanted programs and then display all the files, folders, and registry entries found on your computer that are used by adware programs. When the scan has finished, look through the scan results and uncheck any entries that you do not wish to remove. When you are satisfied with the selection, simply click on the Clean button, which will cause AdwCleaner to reboot your computer and remove the files and registry entries associated with the various adware that you are removing. On reboot, AdwCleaner will display a log showing the files, folders, and registry entries that were removed.
