one over mirror light for 72' vanity

My new double vanity will be a trapezoid shape with 72" long rear edge and 84" front edge. The wall on the right is at 90 degree angle. The wall on the left has an angle about 120 degree or so. The vanity fits into this large niche/alcove area.

So, I currently planning to have one light fixture centered on the 72" wall. The mirror will be frameless and runs across the entire wall side to side (not ceiling to vanity top, there will be some room for light above and shelves below). How long and how many lights should the fixture be? I am thinking of ~30" long 4 lights. Is this too large? If I get something ~24" long 3 lights, will that look too small? Please give opinions or photos..... thanks.

that seems entirely too little lighting for that long a space. at least 2 multi lamp fixtures will be needed.

There are 2 sinks that share the same drain. So they are mounted closer together, about 15" apart, with drawers at both ends of the vanity. I was also thinking of not enough lighting, hence I am leaning towards 4 light fixture. But some of those light fixtures looks huge, and I don't want to over power the smallish room with its presence. There will also be 2 recessed lights on the ceiling, but those are centered in the room (size about 80 sqft and 86" ceiling), not over the vanity.

Tricia, go for the two mirrors and use the current electrical box as a junction box. Check with your local inspector for further details on adding two additional *remodel* electrical boxes. Codes are different everywhere, but he'll know what's safe for sure. I know this because hubby must have been tired when he wired the master bathroom and put in a centered electrical box for lighting our 84 inch vanity. You may have to use conduit or a special covered wire, but there is a way to make it work. Good luck! ~Becky

I would have a mirror madeso it goes all the way to the ceiling, mirror is fairly inexpensive and it will make the room look much bigger, perhaps do one with a bevel. Or if youre buying a framed one u probably are needing a size of 72x48 minimum (that will put it almost to the ceiling and look great :-) Ds

Anyone has a suggestion for me please? Is a 30" light going to look out of porportion with the 72" vanity? Help...

Yes, that is going to be out of proportion. You'll want to light the whole vanity, not just 30" in the middle of the sinks. Also, if possible, you should be trying to light from multiple directions. It is a lot more functional to get some light from the sides as well as from directly above. Even light coming from above but from an angle is going to be much more flattering than a single fixture in the middle.

I have a 68 inch vanity with right wall at 90 degrees and toilet at other end. I replaced the single 48-inch 8 light makeup mirror type light fixture with a 55 inch 6 light fixture and get wonderful light in a smallish bath (approx 9 ft x 9.5 ft. A single 24-inch or 36-inch fixture would have been inadequate for me.
