so many amd cpus how to read

I am looking a an ultra-thin Toshiba T135D which has for its CPU: AMD TurionÃ¢ÂÂ¢ Neo X2 Dual-Core Mobile Processor L625

It also has W7 Home Premium 64 bit, so I assume this process is one of the "good guys", and the Neo, I think indicates a special thin notebook design. In the past I'd not think much about the CPU, but it seems there is a big difference, and to avoid Celeron.

I have also seen the same (well a T135D anyway) with a AMD Athlon Neo MV40 (no other information posted) and I wonder how it rates relative to the Turion. In the Athlon case there is no reference to Dual-Core, or X2 so one might assume it is not, but the OS is again 64 bit, so I assume the Athlon is also 64 bit.

I can probably live with either/both.

Any of the ones you mentioned are "good guys" LOL
the athlon can be dual core but it would say that it is or have the x2 beside it for dual core or the x4 for quad core. Here is a link to what is called a benchmark chart for various processors it might help you get an understanding of how they are rated by performance of certain types of tests.

as you can see they are also divided as to high end, mid and low end.

and yes that one is an ultra thin version.
AMD AthlonÂ Neo Processor for Ultrathin Notebooks

I have no personal experience with those exact ones so can not give you that kind of info, I do have AMD athlon processors in 2 of my windows machines and in a laptop, all of which have been excellent. In my netbook I have the little Intel Atom processor which is a pretty small processor but does well with the little netbook.

the athlon is in both 32 and 64bit but any spec details from the pc will tell you which it has in it, if you do not find that info on the specific site you are on try googling the model number of the pc and you can then look at it on different sites which do give better specs. Sites like newegg, tiger direct, and amazon are pretty good about having a tab on the info page with the full specs details.
If it is a new pc that is being offered with windows 7 64 bit it will be 64 bit

your choice with the dual core would mean that it has 2 processors so it can do the processing work much faster since it has 2 that it can spread the work to. If it were a quad core it would have 4 processors and be virtually twice as fast as the dual core.
So in the ones you listed your dual core choice would/should be the faster.

Thanks, I found both of the CPUs I was wondering about. The Turion X2 was more than twice as fast (benchmark number) as was the Athlon. The computers are the same except for the processor and one is about $50 more, that is mostly because of the X2 processor I'd guess. The Turion is in the "midprice" and the Athlon in the "lower price".

I am sure even the slower one is much faster than my three year old Celeron.

I've had to water a lot due to unusually high temperatures and no rain. April is usually damp around here. I have my pots all lined up with a width of 3 pots so I can maneuver around them. I grouped them in one big pile my first year and it was impossible to get to the middle! I found it's easiest to use a wand set on the soaker setting. I touch each lid with it to make sure the water gets into the holes. Sometimes I'll flood a container (oops) but it doesn't seem to effect the seedlings, the pots have good drainage holes. I've been moving the sprouted containers to the front of the line so I know to go easy with the water in that section. When the tops come off, I use a light misting spray on the babies. I give them a quick check on my lunch break for sproutage and can gauge whether or not they may need to be watered. If it's expected to be warm the following day with no rain, I usually give them a light watering whether they need it or not just as an assurance they don't dry out. I work so have to water in the evening. One thing you can be certain of, you don't 'forget' your containers when you have hundreds out there! It's definitely time consuming but I enjoy tending the pots so it doesn't feel like a chore caring for them. I love when all the tops come off, it's a breeze to do the watering. I'm so anxious to uncover my pots (173 have already sprouted!) but I have concerns that we might get a cold snap or rain storms being it's so early in the season.

I don't normally bother to count but am trying to take notice of what I do every day, like give myself marks out of ten for the quality of the dinner I made (never better than 8 as I am more of an arranger of food than a cook!) and keep a diary. It helps to exercise my brain. The count I did for this thread was helped by the local library, listing in alpha order the titles I have borrowed, thus warning me of anything I have read before in the last 5 years since the program was set up. After some 60 years reading adult books, there is a huge possibility of re-reading, as you may imagine. However I particularly like Golden Age mysteries and can still find some authors I have overlooked. Netla, did you ever get a copy of 'Penhallow'? I recall that you mentioned that you wanted to read it.

Becoming a designated Houzz PRO requires nothing more than signing up for it!! It is intended to advertise a business or service that may be of use or value to other Houzz posters but that's really the only qualification.....that you have a business with a product or service to sell. And since anyone can call themselves a decorating or landscaping professional, you can get just as many minimally skilled or experienced pros responding as you can get those with actual talent. And some will be articulate with useful advice and others you have to wonder how they manage to run a successful business at all!! I am actually a landscape professional, having a long time successful garden design and consulting business but I chose not to be labeled as a PRO on Houzz because a) I have enough business that I do not need to advertise for more; and b) gathering clients from what is essentially a global venue is of no interest to me......my clients are local and most have no association with or even knowledge of this website. Despite that, I still get messaged about potential jobs from various disparate sources. I have also been a member of Garden Web since long before Houzz was on the scene and see no need to change my online persona.

Thank you all so much for the really excellent advice. Each of these comments is extremely helpful to me. I can't tell you how much better of a mindset I have about the whole thing. A combination of people understanding how it can become overwhelming - if you let it - but also learning how to set some logical criteria for making a decision (such as features, price, warranties, using psychology & a pinch of salt with reviews, strongly considering the customer service of the company, deciding what your priorities are and keeping your sanity are some ) has helped me a LOT to get a grip on this endeavor. :D Finally to understand that nothing's perfect but narrowing the margins can give you a pretty good shot at succeeding. If you've found some place with pretty good customer service you've got that as a fall back. Getting that this is NOT an investment but an expense also changes my point of view and understanding about it. (Ugh, marketing ploys. It's always like they are doing you a favor and not just trying to get your money). There's a lot more that you've explained here but I just really wanted to thank you and say it's made a massive difference to my whole outlook and feelings about it. I was able to make a decision this morning that I feel good about and feel a bit like having a glass of wine and some cheesecake - that's how relaxed I feel about it! c: Quite a difference from the semi-hysterical exhausted fearful creature I was, haha.
