e-reader experts: does Kindle or PDN show pictues

I have asked this before, no one knew for sure when I asked. Leaving for Yellowstone next week with grandkids who both have Kindles. I have been recommended a guidebook which I have found both on Amazon and B & N for e-books. Don't know which one to do the kindle version on B&N as I am sure it will have some graphics. My daughter has been wanting me to get Water for Elephants but she told me to get the hard copy as she wanted me to see the pictures, haven't done it yet as I'm still hooked on the Outlander Series!!!

I do not think Kindle does color, PDN definitely does color. On my PDN even the book cover is in color looks just like the actual book. And you can go online and surf if you have a wifi near by to get on, it also will let you check your email and you can view your pictures on it like a digital frame which would be nice for viewing any pictures you will be taking, just stick the memory card into it and view, can do the same with music,load a memory card of your fave songs and play.
Since I do not have a Kindle I will let an owner reply.

Thanks Raven, but what I mean is if the book as a picture in it, will they show?

ok this is what I have determined so far, there are a lot of us trying to figure out how to get and use these books on our readers LOL It may not be possible because this site is changing them to a .umf file format not epub, therefore it would take a .umf converter to change them to epub or a umf reader which is what that media manager thing is. I tried searching for a .umf converter and nothing is coming up that looks trustworthy. I had hoped that it was one of the formats that calibre would use but it is not. so at this point I think we may have to just stick to reading them online free which is better than nothing. I do not like the media manager program since it did trigger a response from your AV and I know nothing about that program so I think it best not to be messing with it. Also when I was doing a google search for umf converter, of course I was doing this with linux, I did end up on one of those sites that tries to install one of the nasty rogue programs so if you try doing that kind of search be really careful. It did nothing to me on linux but had I been on windows that may have been dangerous. Don't forget that anytime you download anything file or program before you open it right click on it and scan it with your AV and malwarebytes just to be sure they are clean. I did run into several other PDN owners asking this same question on some of the android forums and no one had an answer there either.

My mistake raven. I went back into my router settings and found this. Looks like I do have a Mac address. Will doing this help with the PDN? I'm a bit confused....big surprise? âº MAC Address MAC is an acronym for Media Access Controller. All network components including cards, adapters, and routers, have a unique "serial number" called a MAC address. Your ISP may record the MAC address of your computer's adapter and only let that particular computer connect to the Internet service. When you install the router, the Router's own MAC address will be "seen" by the ISP and may cause the connection not to work. Belkin has provided the ability to clone (copy) the MAC address of the computer into the router. This MAC address, in turn, will be seen by the ISP's system as the original MAC address and will allow the connection to work. If you are not sure if your ISP needs to see the original MAC address, simply clone the MAC address of the computer that was originally connected to the modem. Cloning the address will not cause any problems with your network. To Clone your MAC address, make sure that you are using the computer which was ORIGINALLY CONNECTED to your modem before the Router was installed. Click the "Clone MAC address" button. Click "Apply Changes". Your MAC address is now cloned to the router. My netbook and other computer connects just fine with out the cloning. I don't know much about this router stuff..*Ã*

The xoom will be the one to watch, very nice specs and big competition with what all it can do plus it will be running Android 3.0 Honeycomb. It is an awesome tablet but in the next month or so a lot of awesome Android 3.0 tablets will be hitting the market. Google Android 3.0 and Motorola Xoom: Hands-On, and Awesome The Xoom Club I love my PDN but will seriously be looking at some of these next gen Android tabs, the fact some will be running dual core processors alone will put them heads above the rest. A nice look at some of the other competitors that we can look forward to real soon (including some windows 7 versions). It's Tablet-Palooza at CES 2011

it will connect to any wifi wireless network so if you have a wireless router in your home it will connect to it, it also comes with a usb cable so you can connect it directly to your pc if you need to use it to move stuff from the pc to the PDN, it takes a memory card also like the ones used in cameras, you can store a lot of books, pictures, videos etc on the sd card and then insert it into the PDN and use them from the card.(up 32gig size) It is extremely easy to use. If you do not have wireless at home it will use any wireless hotspots like those at libraries and starbucks etc. it does not use a cell phone type connection like the kindle does. I will put a link here to our discussions over on the computer forum for you, we do get a little technical in our discussions over there but don't let that scare you. Pandigital Novel (new thread) that post is the 2nd one we started the first one got so long it cut us off but I put a link to that one in this second one. You may look at youtube for videos and reviews, keep in mind the ones you see may be from the original version that came out which had some problems, they recalled all of them and put out a new version which is the one I have, it is very responsive and I have not had any problems with it. The black model is not near as good as the white one. Feel free to come over to the computer area and ask any questions, I only pop in here once in awhile but am over there daily. There have been some recent sales on it at Kohls also. this is the link to it at walgreens Pandigital Novel 7-inch Color Multimedia eReader several people have had success in printing out the walgreens ad and taking it to bed bath and beyond and asking for a price match then also using the bed bath and beyond 20% off coupon which brings it down considerably. I get the coupons in the mail but you can get one by going to their site and signing up, they will email you one.

yes you can even view magazines and newspapers with it, books must be in epub format, it also will do pdf files.

Great Raven! That is what I needed to know....good point that the Kindles don't do color. So you still really like yours? I haven't been using mine so much....been reading hard copy Outlander series, really hooked! Surfing for forum on PDN and found one but sounds like a lot of folks aren't happy with theirs and the updates....I've only done one since I got it.

I still love mine I have not yet done that latest update that really changes it so much, I may do it at some point but am pleased with it just as it is for now. I read every night on it. I have every one of the Outlander books on it now too.

Raven, have you read any of the Outlander books? Maybe because I'm over 60, but I found while reading the first Outlander that I needed to re-read or go back to previous chapter that it wasn't as easy to do with the PDN so I started acquiring the hard copies...wherever I could buy them used and really cheap. I'm glad that I have them as I'm in the 5th book and there are so many characters that keep popping back into the books from previous ones. I know that I could always use the book mark, but you never know what you will need to refer back to.

I read the first one Outlander and just started on the second one, so far I have not had any problems but I know I will, did you know there is a special book she wrote that is just to help you keep up with the characters? I may need to get that one too.
