trojan system 32

My sons computer is acting funny so he did a MWB scan & it showed clean.. I had him download SuperAntiSpyware. It is still scanning but so far he has found a Trojan System 32.

I looked it up & to my untrained eye it doesn't look good.

He just called & said SuperAntiSpyware found another Trojan system 32.

I asked him what his computer was doing & he said it kinda acted like someone else had control of part of his computer mainly his World Flash news ticker. Said it was opening things he wasn't doing. I'm not where he is so I didn't see it.

There's no way we could offer any help really. He should post the required logs at a malware removal forum and get assistance. Anything less is guessing.

His scan completed BUT his computer froze before he could do anything else..even quarantine them or get a log.. can U start a post there for us? He is pretty upset right now. He is bi-polar & things like this is pretty upsetting to him.. that's why I try to help him. How dangerous is this?

Well I clicked on a link above and it apparently took me out of this forum into one of the general forums, so excuse the double post. I have apparently got this particular piece of malware too. I started full scans of my spyware/malware programs last night to try to identify and clean out this virus, which I also got in the course of a recipe search, apparently from the Food Network. Unfortunately my son got up this morning, saw my netbook sitting there with the clamshell up, thought I'd left it on by accident, and shut it down. Now it won't boot, not even in safe mode. I know the winlogon.exe file was corrupted and had scheduled a boot scan in Avast, but what it does now is cycle constantly between the blue screen with a message that flashes past far too quickly for me to read it, and the windows boot screen. It never comes up. Since it was shut down before I got up this morning, I also didn't get to write down my XP license number, so even though I have access to an external DVD and an XP installation disk, I DON'T have a valid license # to enter. I fear my netbook is bricked, all because of a recipe for apple streusel pie.

In the computer store, they told me that it was probably an IE 7 problem and that they "told" me not to get IE 7 and I went ahead and got it anyway (true) My feeling is that we are going to have to go to IE 7 eventually, so why not do it now. If you roll back to IE 6, you have to also go in and delete the update where you went to 7 (my understanding) So..I came home and sent that e-mail that had been sent to me back to myself. When I received it from myself, I was able to save it. They also got onto me about wanting to know how these things work...well, I "do" want to understand this stuff. They said, "You drive your car to town, don't you? Do you want to know just how it works?" Well, if something was wrong with it, I would want to know how it worked... The tech said he didn't have mshtml on his computer either...I'm going to now go and check files and folders and see if it is indeed on my computer....

That's Vundo alright always recognized buy those 8 random letter files----> agjpkuyj.dll, & fegenope.dll, Follow bpgreen advice and let us know.. Vundos not a serious infection and in most cases is easily removed and it does cause pop ups. Running out of date Java is one of the ways this infection gets in... Removing out of date java versions from the add/remove programs should be done only keeping the most current version----> Java Runtime Environment 6 update 11 I think is the most current version.

Maybe it is not the help file that I want. That is what comes op when I cannot get a photo someone sends me on my computer. I get the photo on my ipad but my window PC says cannot open and something about my system 32

I don't know how dangerous it is because I can't see any logs, and I'm not familiar with System32 Trojan that SuperAntiSpware claims to find, only seeing the log will give some idea of what it is.

Restart the computer and run the scans again. If the computer keeps freezing it may need to be taken in for repair.

I now have a related problem. He downloaded the 15 day trial of SuperAntiSpware. I'm sure they will ask HIM for money. He doesn't have credit card & I'm not about to give him my number. What I need to know is after he finish scanning can he delete it & get the totally free one.. I know sometimes bits & pieces are left so U can't get it to work if U install it again.
Can I download it.. PAY for it & send it to him as an attachment. Do U think it will install OK if I do that. We have done that before with other programs but not for something already on the computer. I also don't want to mess mine up but my thinking is if I don't run it I'll be OK.
Sorry to be such a bother. You & others there have been a lifesaver to us.

Yes he can remove it and it should not be an issue. Remove it using the add / remove programs and as you say install SuperAntiSpyware free. There is no reason to pay for anything here.

It's very difficult working this way and almost impossible. If you can get him here I will look over the entire computer.

He scanned it again as he slept & this time it only found a couple of tracking cookies.
Hopefully that is all..

I'm going to try & get him to come in next time himself.
He is going to do a online scan tonite..
