Importing Firefox Bookmarks

I've just gotten a new computer, and am having trouble importing my bookmarks from one to the other. Have followed the steps. But once I specify to import from a file, and then browse to my saved bookmarks file, it shows them, but there's nothing I can see to do to save them to the new browser. The bookmarks just sit there, then when I finally close them, they haven't imported. Obviously I'm missing some step! And I am importing saved Firefox bookmarks to a newly installed Firefox browser.

I just have one computer to check with. After you find your Bookmarks that you want to Import. Right click the Bookmark
Icon and left click Select.
Is this not possible?

Well you haven't specified where the bookmarks are you want to import.

If they are in Firefox, activate that copy of Firefox, then go to "organize bookmarks" then to "file" then to "export". Put this export on some medium you can move, memory stick, network...and do the same on the new Firefox except click "import" and browse for the file you just exported.

I lost 'spell check' years ago on Firefox. I could not get it back and it disappeared on all my computers (XP and Win 7). Never could find the solution and tried the various fixes FF offers. Export them to a file on a thumb drive then import 'from file' on the new computer. A floppy would work if both computers have floppy drives.

June once you click the bookmarks and get the drop down simply click "Show all bookmarks" at the bottom. This brings a new window where you can drag those unsorted favs into the "Bookmarks menu". Once they are all there you can right click on the Bookmarks menu and click to sort by name thereby bringing them all back to the one click you want. I do like the bookmarks toolbar for my most often used links and it is only about a quarter inch in depth. I shorten all names used on the toolbar so they are all visible, works great for me.

After you browse to your bookmarks file click it, then click open, it should import.
