I'm sure if you shop around, you can find something less costly than the Perrin and Rowe with an exposed shower feed. Here's one from Grohe. From their web page: The Rainshower System adds a sophisticated, distinctively European flair to any stylish bathroom. The system accommodates the use of a Rainshower shower head and a hand shower with an exposed thermostat valve, shower arm, hand shower union, or tub spout with 1/2-inch hose connection. Because the system is surface-mounted, it is ideal for situations where the convenience and luxury of a Rainshower shower head and a hand shower are desired but major renovations are not possible  so not only does it look great, it's practical too. I just spent 45 minutes trying to figure out how to post a photo here and I gotta say, you people are better than me. That said, I had the EXACT same layout in my last house (I was going to show you, but ... you know ...) - using almost the same materials in our master remodel. You're just going to have to trust me that it looked really nice with the door to the far right hah. We put the door on the side because of much less splashing through the crack. It was what our shower door guy strongly recommended and the looks thing was just an added bonus. To solve the door swing dilemma, why not just switch the swing on the entry door out into the hallway? I can't tell if you have room from the picture, but if so, that's an alternative. You'd have to move light switches, too, but maybe that's no biggie. Did you check on houzz for photos like this to see if other people put their doors on that angled side?

On Dec 1st the OP said U-channels were "ugly" and he asked if -- for any reason -- steam showers in particular needed them more than regular showers. The big question is Why so many glass shower panels are installed with U channels. This Is The Question. With Channels or Not With Channels. Any shower enclosure. When I bought glass, they insisted they re-measure my measurements and then they ALL tried to convert that into Channels holding glass (("...At least one Channel, sir...")) I held my ground and told them to silicone it. The glass could not be cut smaller to fit into a channel, I wanted what I wanted and the best guys said "well OK if you insist..." It turns out that when they order the glass (cut and tempered) a normal size variance occurs because of the sanding need to get a flat straight edge. So they all want to have a Channel to hold the normal variation (normal margin of error). It requires more human work to get a piece of glass that is the size you want it to be within a 1/16th or 1/8th inch. Then they have to lean on their supplier of tempered glass to do One Good Job and not just a run of the mill job. In any case, silicone can compensate for some of the variance. Silicone is just one way of gluing them. Other methods exist also. HTH, and I am not in the business nor am I considering getting into the business. -david

It looks really nice, did you add a steam generator ? i think it would be a nice idea ! i installed one when i renovated my new house last month, when i moved my new shower and bathroom was looking really old and ancient, the siding was made of wood and it was really rusty and broken, i also did some repairing inside like panting, flooring, etc. changing the old doors was also in my plan, and actually the best thing on it now is the shower after i bought a generator for steam shower which makes really good steam. I think it would be really nice in your bathtub.
