irfanview problem

I wanted to post this in case others have the same problem with their wallpaper folders. A couple of years ago I had a problem opening my personal wallpaper folders through "personalize". It happened again today and i tried system restore to different dates, I googled and still could not find a reason for this. After reading a bit I felt it had to be software setting. I opened irfanview, then file associations and removed all the check marks, my folders now open. Would anyone know which association it would be. I know I probably need to put some of the check marks back in.

I've found irfanview to be annoying and clunky, and not easy to use at all.

If you're happy with it, fine. Otherwise, take a look at Faststone or Picasa. I think both of these are more useful and offer a better user experience.

Bob, thanks for this time saving tip. I've used Irfanview from the very beginning, used it on the first photo I ever took...great little fixer. But, I've always resized just one photo at a time....didn't know about "batching"....gosh, what a time saver. I also use another little online "freebie" for photo editing since I don't have a program like Corel or Photoshop. Its called Photofiltre (from a French firm I believe). I downloaded from their site and it has some pretty good little features. Those are the only editing programs I have and they both do a decent job. I resize with Irfanview, save the pix, and use Photofiltre for sharpening, contrast and any other little fixes I might need to do. It has a number of filters that you can use too. I usually save my pix at 20 to 25 percent compression so as not to lose too much resolution. I almost never save a photo at more than 1600 x 1200 pixels unless I'm going to have that particular pic printed.....then I don't resize until after printing and then usually store them at less than that...usually about 800 x 600. Check out the link below - it has a tutorial for pspimage thumbnail preview. It is for Windows 7. I just installed PSPX3 this week - and I have no issue with the thumbnails. Hopefully you can find something on this guys blog. I have found a wealth of info by googling "Paint Shop Pro X3 tutorials" - use the quotes when you search. Lots of video tutorials! I forget,, ,Ctrl key or Shift key. Hold one down and right click on a file, and it should have a context menu item to choose what program to open with ,,,and that window will also have a check box to always use this program for this type of file.

Where did you go to get that program? I Googled Irfanview400 thinking it might be a newer version but I only seemed to bring up warez and cracks sites so I moved away in a hurry. Visit the link below and get the latest version and also grab the plug ins too. Delete what you have first I would suggest.
