I've been subpoena'd

The woman that ran a red light, broadsided me, then went out and purchased insurance to try to cover her @$$ last October has now appeared in court twice. And has now pleaded not guilty twice. So now I get to take another day off work to testify in a jury trial (that the taxpayers get to pay for).

I am just steamed! She got a ticket, there is an eyewitness, there is proof she purchased her insurance AFTER the accident and yet she pleads not guilty.

This woman is a parasite. Not only do the taxpayers have to foot the bill for all of her court appearances and a public defender, but her negligence has cost me 10's of thousands of dollars. Of which I am not likely to ever recoup because she is such a leech.

Sorry to vent, but I had to get it off my chest.

I've never been subpoena'd before....not sure what I need to do. Better call my attorney tomorrow. (Sigh)

Maybe the insurance company will slap a nice big fraud charge on her and she'll literally get "time" to ponder her lack of decency.

Pleasant looking room. Liking all the natural light potential. You might consider wood or faux wood vertical blinds for the window wall. Would add more wood vibe to the room and offer more options for light and privacy control . https://www.blindster.com/vertical-blinds/faux-wood-vertical-blinds/ Plants give a farmhouse vibe. You'd have more room for plants if your loveseat were not backed up to the window -- not just plant shelf/stand sitting on the floor but brackets with hanging baskets of the plants you really like that will get enough sunlight from your windows. Having your loveseats facing one another set at each long end of the rug with only a table and lamp between the one side and the exterior wall would be worth trying ... setting the front feet of the loveseats on the edge of the rug. If you draw, to scale, on graph paper the size/shape of the room with all its fixed features (windows, doors, fireplace, etc.) indicated, you can draw and cut out the size/shape of the furnishings you have and and see what works without moving the actual furniture. Taller thinner wood or metal post table lamps with medium/large white shades could help lighten the room ... and have a less formal vibe than the ones you are now using. An "industrial" style could work.

Or what about vegan leather in medium brown? Vegan leather can be wiped easily, and the mottled texture could help hide minor stains. (Also, they will add some warmth to the space.) For the barstools, what about simple wood stools that match the same wood as your table top? (not sure what color wood that is. Walnut?) Chairs from West Elm. Barstools from Home Depot. One thing to check is if the charcoal grey legs are dark enough to match your table legs? And whether the barstools match the wood of your table -- or at least close enough (since they will not be right next to the table). I'm kind of liking the Article chair here in mint green. But I wonder if maybe it's a little too modern of a look for this space? I actually don't like the West Elm chair I suggested before. The navy is really pretty but the legs are a problem. Because they're wood -- but a different shape than the bench legs -- that would bother me. What if you found a fabric chair similar to the ones you already have now, but in navy fabric?

@crispa I found that out about the coffee maker yesterday looking for dazzling appliances and stopped in at the Miele experience, it's not impossible to maintain but not easy for someone shorter than me. I just threw that in there to keep the sweep of the door from overhanging the sink. @Jennifer K That's what I thought but questions of balance where brought up and whether the extra high upper storage was a problem. The one thing that I think helps the balance is that I found that the 30" Miele steam oven and microwave are the same size as the 24" ones so why not just get the 24"? I think that will help balance the 24" left and right side.... along with the 24" uppers. However, I think the design below is something I should consider also since the other side of the room directly across has light boxes... the wall there is about 3 feet deep so actual windows would have looked odd so I did the next best thing and put back-lit frosted glass that adjusts color temp throughout the day to match light coming through the front door frosted glass. In the kitchen I could use the same frosted glass or just let light reflect off the wall from behind the slab in kitchen to give a sensation of outdoor light there too. What do you think?

That sucks. The legal system never functions the way you think it should. However, I guess she has the right to be heard even if all she is doing is spewing lies. I hope she gets a whopping big fine.

I read about your accident in the earlier post; I'm just curious about the actual charges. You'll prevail, but she's probably going to plead to a lesser charge. I'd be every bit as steamed as you are about this.

As far as I know she has been charged with reckless driving, failure to provide proof of insurance and driving without insurance.

A whopping fine will never get paid, it appears she has nothing, she lives in a motel.

I empathize with her financial situation but that is no excuse for dragging this out at the cost of the taxpayers.

Oh, I think a fine will be paid. My brother was unemployed and uninsured when he had an accident that crippled the other driver for the rest of her life. The charges against him were similar - maybe the same - as the ones you cite. He was fined and ordered to support the injured woman for the rest of her life.

He stayed unemployed for a few years, but the minute he got a job the state started garnisheeing part of his wages. His fine and the support were treated as two different things, so when the fine was paid (in installments), it ended, but the support continues. Twenty or so years later, he is still supporting her through wage garnishees. He has jumped around to several jobs in two states, but they always find him. I think the same will apply in your case.

Linda, I conclude, based on your ability to still participate in other activities like this forum, that you are strong! I don't know if I could deal with it and remain functional well you can't make CCC so perhaps you are traumatized. I wish the best for you and hope it all goes away real soon.

Being poor or down on oneÂs luck is no excuse for a lack of integrity or honor.

My sympathy for her difficult situation ends when she chooses to lie, not accept responsibility for her actions or commit fraud.

Shoot, this is a good thing. I know it doesn't seem like it, but you get to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth! Your day in court. It's happening whether you want it to or not, so go get her! You may have lost the first money battle, but you'll eventually win the war. You're in my thoughts, and I am terribly sorry that this happened to you, since you're a gem.

Truthfully it is going to be more of an inconvenience to me than anything. I am more upset that she just didn't buck up and take responsibility for her negligence. especially when the outcome will be the same at the end of the day anyway.
