glass or plexi shower walls-Is this possible?

In a home depot bathrooms book that I purchased, the shower looked like it was a painted wall with a glass sheet covering it. It definately wasn't glass tiles. I just got rid of my cultured marble shower. The existing floor tile that I have it discontinued. I found several marbles or granites that I like for the vanity, but anything I've chosen for the shower walls just competes or seems like just too much going on. Any suggestions would be great.

Hey, if you can make a shower out of glass tile, you can make it out of glass slab.

I'd say 'no' to plexi, though: too easy to scratch, might be hard to clean, could discolor over time.

You'd need to use a tempered glass, and I'm not sure how you'd attach it to the wall.

The glass was painted not the wall. A colorant is applied to the back side of the glass sheets to give it its color. Sheets of Corian, Granite ,and Marble can also be used. Best to use someone with experience doing this in showers.

Walk-in Shower - Glass wall/door or shower curtain?

After staying in a hotel last week with a walk in shower approximately 36" deep with a shower curtain, I strongly advise against a shower curtain. Assuming your bathroom will have an exhaust fan to help ventilate the moisture from the shower, you have to expect the shower curtain to be impacted by the moving air. The warm shower air is drawn up over the curtain into the fan. And of course more air needs to be drawn into the shower, so how does it get in there? That's right, it blows the curtain into the shower allowing the air to go under the curtain. Trying to shave my legs with a wet shower curtain sticking to my legs and arms and behind is very unpleasant. When I redo my master shower I will definitely be going with a glass door and/or fixed panel.

I'm sure if you shop around, you can find something less costly than the Perrin and Rowe with an exposed shower feed. Here's one from Grohe. Having heard of plain glass shower walls shattering just out of the blue, I would be wary of exerting force (such as connecting your shower pipe) to a shower wall. The people to talk to about this, though, would be the glass company. Plumbers do not fabricate glass walls.
