So were you having a problem and downloaded this program? Go to Control panel then Add/Remove programs and remove this pest. All they want is your money.
Then once you have done that use the link below to download Crap Cleaner. Install and run this program to remove all remaining traces of XP Cleaner and other junk cluttering up your computer. Just use the program at it's default settings and you will do just fine. You might consider doing a defrag after the clean up.
Note:- The slim version just means it does not come bundled with the Yahoo toolbar, everything else is the same
If you are unsure about what I am writing write back and say so so that others here who have used and approve this nice little free program can give you their impression of it.
what you have is spyware/adware infection. Never click on those things and never ever pay for them they are totally a fake and are not actually showing you what is on your computer it is all phony. Depending on the actual one you have it may or may not be easy to get rid of. Do you happen to have a red circle thing down in your systray by your clock? That will tell me if it is a specific one.
You need a good spyware scanner cleaner. Often you can not manually delete these nasty programs. I use and recommened Superantispyware it is free and easy to use. Here is the link to it and a good step by step tutorial. Also make sure your antivirus program is fully updated and is running scans at least once a week.
Ok, i did just as you told me to do,and---------- every thing is just fine now.woooo hoooooo When i did the Ccleaner,it said it would identify the problem, but not correct it.Also wanted you to buy their program.
I downloaded the spyware,it worked great, and, i did the defrag.
Thank you so much, i will keep this site in my bookmark. You were really nice to help me out. A toast to you. :0)
ok when you say you downloaded the spyware do you mean you got the superantispyware program I listed for you? spyware is what you want to get rid of so the programs that get rid of it are called anti-spyware programs. Superantispyware is such a program that will clean and rid your computer of the nasty spyware infections.
I had posted on your other post also. Always come to this forum or some reputable computer forum and ask BEFORE you buy any kind of program!! Some of us will be able to tell you if it is a good program or if it is a phony one just trying to get your credit card info!
Do you have an anti-virus program on your computer?
Now that you have the Superantispyware program on your computer Carol you need to click on the little bug icon for it and hit the update button and then hit that run scan button at least once a week!! Chose a day of each week when you can do that and do it every week, always hit the update button first!
I have found this is a rogue program and personally I would not have it on my computer. It is heavily associated with spyware installation. I would also keep a very close watch on the credit card you may have used to buy it... did you buy it online with a credit card?
McAfee site advisor has much negative remarks about Shield delux. Well-respected security researchers have analyzed the software available from this site and found that it offers little or no security protection and may use deceptive sales tactics. http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm
Eric that runs spywarewarrior.com is an excellent resource for determining what is good or bad in programs, it is a great place to look if you have questions about programs.
this link below is the McAfee site advisor page for the shield delux when you see a lot of red x's like that you want to stay far away from those companies.
Yes, i meant the Superantispyware, that is what i downloaded.I will check the little bug and do as you say.
I did buy the Shiels Delux on line with a c.card. I have the program set to run every Monday and Friday, when i am on the computer, it seems to be running, but i do not think i should have had so many bad things on my computer if it was working the way they say it should. There was a lot of bad things on it.Cleaned up now though.
What would you suggest, should i purchase something else,i sure don't want any more problems.
Carol, don't buy anything else. There are many good free programs to protect you and your computer. There are programs to protect against adware/spyware, programs designed as anti-virus programs, etc. The important thing is to keep them updated and run scans about once a week. I highly recommend Spyware Blaster, Spybot Search and Destroy, Avast anti-virus or AVG anti-virus (both are good), and Microsoft has a free program, Windows Defender. Be sure when you do a search for them that you spell the names correctly, because there are rogue programs that sound similar, and they actually will cause you trouble. The ones I have named are all free, and many of the good people here use them. Another good program for cleaning up temporary files is CCleaner. If you're using XP, I would also suggest a different firewall than the Windows firewall that came on your computer. Try either Zone Alarm or Comodo firewall. I'm sure others will have some suggestions as well as links to these and other programs.
All I can tell you Carol is what I personally would do, everyone has their own opinions. I personally would not purchase the Shields Deluxe it has bad ratings and a bad reputation on many of the pro sites as well as by McAfee site advisor. I would actually be scared of what is might be phoning home and sending out from my computer.
There are so many good free programs available or if you want to pay for one so that it is fully automatic there are good ones for that too. In fact that Superantispyware you just got has an option to purchase the full version which will have it run automatically and get the updates automatically so you do not have to remember to do it manually.
What program do you have on your computer for anti-virus? That is something you must have and there are some very good ones free such as AVG and Avast! Let us know and if you need a good anti-virus program we can fix you up.
this is one I highly suggest everyone should have on their computers no matter what else they have, it will not interfere with any of your other programs. Spywareblaster I will add the link for it. Here is what to do with it. When the program opens you will see on the left a button that says updates click on that then click on check for updates, you must be connected to the internet, it will find any updates and install them. Once it is done with that you will click on Protection button on the left, then click on enable all protection, the shield should now turn green showing you are protected. You MUST remember to once a week double click on the spywareblaster icon that will now be showing on your desktop and do this process to get all the new updates and enable them, it will not do it automatically. Just open it hit the update button, get the updates, then enable all protection. Should you want to pay the small price they ask you can get it to do everything automatically also. Definitely get spywareblaster!
Well, as i said, i have already purchesed the shields delux. From what you are saying, i feel like i should unsubscribe,if i do this, what would you suggest-- Firewall? Antispyware, other than the one i downloaded this morning?Any thing else?
you need one good antivirus program. You MUST remove any existing antivirus program before you put a new one on because you can only have one anti-virus program at a time on a pc.
Anti-spyware you can have more than one and that is a good idea it creates layered protection. I would say the Superantispyware and the Spywareblaster for certain. I also like SpywareGuard which is from the same place you get the spywareblaster.
Firewall zonealarm free firewall is my preferred one. IF you do not have a firewall you can turn on the built in firewall that is in xp, then if you do download a firewall program you turn off the windows firewall and run the one you install. But the windows one is better than nothing. That is at start> control panel> windows firewall turn to on apply ok.
But as I said you MUST go to Start>control panel> click on add/remove software, wait for it to make the list then find your current antivirus program click it then choose the Remove option before you install any other antivirus programs. So if you do decide at some point to get rid of the one you have you now have exactly what you will need to do to replace it.
Thank you one and all,i have book marked this page,as i said on my other post, you have all been so nice and so helpful,i would have had to call a repair man to fix my problem, but you saved me,,:0)
