Where did I see the recipe?

I have a question. did you ever see a recipe, think I want to try that, read the ingredients, like I did, realize there's one you don't have, pick it up at the grocery.....then can't remember where you saw the recipe? That's not much of a problem if you're looking at books but when you're visiting Harvest, Cooking and Recipe Exchange it's driiving me nuts. Just wondering if I'm the only one that does that. BTW the ingredient I picked up was cranapple juice and the recipe was definately not a beverage.

Jude, Start a "To Try" file and when you see a recipe that you want to try, copy and paste it to either a word file or whatever programme you are using for your recipes.

jude31 I have done ther same thing. I always think I will remember where it was so I don't always tear it out right away, then time goes by and I do forget. Ann T is right: we should pull it immediately and file it somewhere.

You must be talking about Tasymo's blue bench and her beautiful red/blue shed. She's on the Garden Junk side. You can do a search for benches or sheds. I have just started visiting this side a few days ago, and wonder why it's so slow. GJunk side is very fast-moving.

NORMALLY, you cannot retrieve a post that has fallen off...and WeedyAcres' Thanksgiving thread has fallen off...the last post date is 12/16/07. However, I've noticed recently that if you know the URL of a message, you can sometimes retrieve it... You used to be able to do that only within a few hours or so of when a message fell off, but that appears to no longer be the case. I won't guarantee you'll be able to get all messages, but perhaps any message that's fallen off within the last couple of months? E.g., if you search for weedyacres + thanksgiving, you do not get her "Our Thanksgiving week total kitchen remodel" thread, but if you know the URL you can get it (so, see above!)

Ann, you are right but I'm still learning/struggling with the cut and paste stuff but sheshebop, I really appreciate your post because as you know, misery loves company

Doesn't work.........I have a ream of "to try" recipes at home. LOL

Now, I've separated them at least in to Sweet and Savory.
I will pull out one or two, check the ingredients. If I need to buy something, I add it to my grocery list and leave the recipe out on the counter (or at least on top of the pile) and plan to make it within a few days!!
Then, I try to remember to make notes about servings, how we liked it, any changes I made, and changes I might make in the future.

Then it goes in "the other pile", waiting to be filed in my notebook/recipe book.

Sigh........so many recipes, so little time!

Not only do I cut and paste, I print it out and take to the grocery with me to make certain I know all of the ingredients and have the amounts right. Write on it as you go, especially those thoughts in that moment (like, I wonder if raisins would be better or currants, jot down raisins?). I rate the recipes too, 1-5 stars with 5 being "Keepers".

You all are way too organized for me..I figured years ago when I turned 65 that I wasn't organized, never had been and might as well face the fact that I never would be. I love to hear all about what you talented people are doing but I am out of my class for sure.

I understand what you're saying!

If,however, I don't print it and carry it, I forget ingredients or buy the wrong size. And if I change something, I want to be able to avoid/recreate it the next time, so I am only using cutting and pasting, then printing it out as a crutch!
