Do you love your one piece acrylic/fiberglass tub or shower?
Comments (22)Well, I don't love mine- but it could be as old as 30 years+. We've been in this house 13 years, and it was already there and well-used when we moved in. When we gut the BR I guess maybe we'll find out if there was anything else there before. And it's more because it is tiny- inside dimensions of 28X30. Certainly don't find it stains- I used a steamer and Oxy-clean to get PO's dirt off, and try to squeegee it after each use- DH couldn't be bothered- not worth nagging him as we're replacing it soon anyways. My Mom built a fairly high end luxury home and put two in her two guest baths- She loves them and definitely the ease of cleaning is an important bonus for her as she approaches her 80's. (In fact, she may have one in her Master shower- I've just never been in there!)...See Morereplacing round tub with clawfoot tub
Comments (10)hummmmmmmm Very interesting. I never heard of a 45 day limit to top billing post either. Christopherth are you some moderator on this board or? to make this decision. Why would it be imporant for the post to be sent down the line just because it did not have an answer to it? I was interested to see an answer on this question myself. I popped in several times. I just never posted to it because I do not have the answer and felt unanswered questions should stay visable to someone that might have the answer. The people that bought our last MFH are planning on removing the garden tub and we have talked several times on their options of what to replace it with. Large stall shower or a regular tub or shower over tub. Sorry Summergardener I do not have an answer for you. My only thoughts would be the added weight. And maybe the small foot print of the claw foot tub feet. There might have to be something under each foot. I just do not know. Some one asked about the added weight of a large fish tank. I consider the added weight as I continue to mosaic on our furniture. Heheheh Silly me. Sure is fun though. I hope some one posts an answer. Chris...See MoreReplacing one piece tub/shower unit
Comments (0)We want to change out the fiberglass Kohler tub/shower unit that we have in second floor. The reason being, is that we wish we had gone with white instead of grey. It is a one piece unit, three sided, 60". We also don't like how narrow it is. So, we want white and a unit that is at least a couple inches wider. Will this be a problem as far as the drain connections are concerned?? And if anyone knows, about how long would it take a plumber to remove it and install a new unit? Remember, it is in an unfinished area of the house....See MoreRenovating - Should I keep One Piece Bathtub and Shower?
Comments (10)Thank you for your comments. I'm not sure what type of material the unit is made of, but it's in perfect shape and it's been well used for many years. The people who built the home used high quality finishes throughout and I expect this unit could last another 25 years or so and still look pretty good! :) This is the "children's/guest" bathroom, we plan on being in the home for at least another 5 years and then will downsize. The tub is not unsafe, you can sit in the edge. And it was brought in during the build, and will have to cut in half to take out of the house (my neighbour replaced hers recently). It won't be possible to bring in another one piece unit due to the size but I did look at Swanstone one piece unit, and something like that might work. I'm in Canada (Sask.) and wonder if they carry that or a similar product here. And regarding something like the Swanstone, does it look like a quality, high end product? I've seen some that don't...:) I'm going to keep looking at Houzz and at products and keep pondering, see if other ideas/experiences come in. Thanks so much....See Moresjhockeyfan325
