slow mac

2008 black mac. replaced hard drive over a year ago. cloned it. drive #1 sits on shelf. lately mac has been running super slow. takes forever to go online, wakeup from sleep and so on. tech friend said backup data, reload OS. so we are assuming it is a software issue and hoping HD is ok? could put drive #1 back in and see how it works. its pretty full but much data could be dumped since its already on drive #2.

You say drives are pretty full. how big are the drives what percentage is used/free. Experts claim only 85% of the HDD should be used and 15% left free (max).

You could try a adjusting the tension cable for the drive. many drive systems rely on "slipping the belt" to achieve lower ground speeds. Though I wouldn't know a Mac Allister if it bit me in the leg!

I just got my Mac N Cheese this year. So far, I'm not seeing any problems with it. Actually Mac N Cheese is about to bloom for me!! I amended the soil when I planted it with fresh potting soil, so I hope that helps. With my Tiki Torch, I've noticed that a lot of the stems (with flower buds) are flopping over. However, the buds were on the plant when I got them and they were already drooping. Do you think I should cut them off?? Anyways, I agree completely with echinaceamaniac, these plants aren't really that great. I think we should right letters to Terra Nova nurseries expressing our concerns. Maybe, if we're REALLY LUCKY, we might even get a refund. Also, a word of advice to echinaceamaniac, try buying larger plants with more established root systems. I know they're more expensive, but this may help them survive in the long run.

Here is an update As you can see, the difference is still big: the non-wrapped area is turning black but very very slow. MacDaddy's suggestion is actually what I was thinking as next step: do some art work with coloring:) Another experiment: what about leaves? sharon- I looked at the specs for that machine, and it looks like it should be entirely adequate. [Apple MacBook MB881LL/A 13.3-Inch Laptop (2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, 2 GB RAM, 120 GB Hard Drive, Slot Loading SuperDrive)?] How long does it take to boot-up? I, too, think there might be some problem with the interface to your Internet connection, or with how the machine is set up. I'm not sure that another Mac with a 2.4 processor will solve the problem (unless your current machine is a lemon). Before you give up, I think you need to talk with Apple tech support and see if they can diagnose what's going on with it. I don't think the problem is with the machine's specs.

drive #1 is 80gb. almost full. drive #2 is 320gb. maybe 50% full. i thought putting in original drive might change system performance. kid said save original drive in case we needed to find old data. has original OS on it since it was the oem drive. mac should boot up ok with it? no reason really to not wipe it. not sure where the os discs are. i think mac's came with install disc in 08?

Did reload OS. No change in performance. Have 1 bad memory slot. Am using 1 stick of 1gb ram now. Could try a 2gb stick in it's place to see if performance picks up. No warranty to fix flaky motherboard.
