F&P v. Samsung v. KA fridges: Noise? Energy? Other CD recs?

We're considering Fisher & Paykel, KitchenAid, and Samsung counter-depth refrigerators, and wondered if anyone had any recent experiences with these models. (There are a bunch of older threads, so would love any updates from folks who've had them for a while now!)

On the Fisher Paykel:

We're looking at the single door bottom freezer with no ice/water. Love the design, but concerned about 1) energy use (not EnergyStar) and 2) noise (reports on GW of lots of it). Sales dude at appliance store contends that the EnergyStar rating is off because they measure when the fridge is first turned on, which gives F&P a lower rating because the compressors run continuously when it's initially getting up to temperature, but that it should settle down once it's into normal operating mode and be quite energy efficient. Should I buy this theory? Any experiences with actual usage/bills? High energy use is a dealbreaker for DH, who is itching to crack out the Kill-A-Watt and go down to the store to confirm.

On the Samsung:

It seems the only no-ice-in-door model is their narrower 32" model---great in concept but size looks odd for a french door layout?? Anyone have this and have any feedback on it as far as interior space? (We've only seen the 36"ers in person, so hard to know what to make.) Is there a 36" without ice/water in the door? (Their website doesn't show one...)

On the KitchenAid:

We were all set with the 36" lower-cost KA, and then saw the 72" model with SatinGlide drawers. Seems MUCH better made (both freezer and fridge interiors) than the lower end one. Does anyone have either of these and have any feedback on them? Is it worth the extra $$ for SatinGlide?

Would also love any other recommendations of favorite counter-depth refrigerators. Our wish list is:

MUST HAVE:

- Counter depth (total depth w/ handles under 29")

- Decently quiet (up against bedroom wall!)

- Energy efficient

- Under $3K

- Solid maintenance/repair history

WOULD PREFER:

- No ice/water in door (but flexible on this)

- Under 36" if possible

- Do not need icemaker, but fine with one

MUST NOT HAVE:

- Any digital anything on the outside

Any thoughts or recent experience with these models? Thanks!
