I would get rid of it. There are enough screensavers available out there that no one needs to keep faulty programs. Perhaps you have Windows 7 and the screensaver is older and not compatible.

On the other had why do you need a screensaver? Twenty years ago they were necessary to help avoid burn in on the monitor, that is no longer the case.

Some users still maintain screensavers for visual pleasure rather than there original intent. I have a collage of my grandchildren in place just for something to look at when I am using the desk while not on the system.

My concern is if the download sight was researched before downloading? Historically screensavers, fonts, and smiley face sites have been havens for virus carrying downloads.

I am with DA here the free screensaver sites are one of the notorious infection spreading sites, you can find some good free ones but if you went for one of the fancy elaborate ones my guess is you did not just get a free screensaver.
I would run malwarebytes updated full scan immediately and also an online antivirus scan. You may have a hard time removing the screensaver if it is one of the bad ones.

I note DA's idea of a screensaver using family photos, great idea.

Those who have Windows 7 can do the same but use their wallpaper. I have family photos set up to change every few minutes on my wallpaper, works great.

I was just half correct now that I think about it. I have a desktop collage of the grandchildren created with Picasa, and I started with the same pictures in a separately created file for the screen saver. I am able to add new pictures or remove oldies from the screen saver. This does not effect the collage or the photo in the original storage location.

I would run those scan!!! removing it will not undo what might have been done. That dolphin one is often one of the bad ones. If you post the link you got it from we might be able to tell you if that site is known for dangerous stuff.
If you don't have WOT on your browser I would add it that way it would at least warn you if you are about to enter a danger zone.

Or as a user research a site before an uninformed download.

A few basic Google searches for example; Garden Web virus, Garden Web malware, and Garden Web complaints. Safety, security, and protection is only as strong and complete as the user allows it to be.
