I just answered the question as it was asked, which as stated seemed to have nothing to do with either IE 11 or Outlook mail. Don't know what other kind of answer you were hoping to get. "Shutting down" the computer certainly means that no virus/malware can get in or out...so your computer is safe. That's what you asked.

I think I heard him say they would eventually do away with hotmail??? I was having a sound problem. When I first got this PC with W 7 I had to download window live mail and it was so congested/complicated and took a lot of work for me to adjust to it. It came in a suite with other things I didn't want, like messenger. I recently reformatted my PC and I did not find that suite. What I did find was a very simple email much like Outlook express. I think a lot of people were complaining about it and they changed it. If that is so they do listen to the user every once in awhile. LOL

Wouldn't it be easier to just go to HotMail.com and read/send email directly from there? Not to mention how much safer it is. I haven't used an "on board" email program for years and wouldn't have it any other way.

I think that would depend on who your mail server is. You'd (I believe) need to visit the mail server in your browser, log in, and find it in the settings. In my case, gmail, it looks something like this: ---------------------------------------------------- You're not getting duplicate emails are you? I mean, you get an email yesterday, then get the same exact email again today? Personally, I think it's either your mail server or the mail server of the sender. Either way, nothing you have control over. ---------------------------------------------------- To confirm, maybe you could try logging into your email server and see if the emails are arriving late there too? For instance, with my gmail, I'd go to https://mail.google.com/mail/ to check my mail. If the same mails were arriving late there too, I would figure for sure there was nothing I could do.
