The shower curtain design and colors look very Mediterranian to me (even though apparently I can't spell it...), especially with those cobalt blue tiles. Ochre, a really dark almost-orangish reddish-yellow, would be great but alas is still in the yellow family. You're worried the cranberry would be too dark; what about a lighter shade of terra cotta like the Medi. clay roof tiles? If that reddish clay color would go with the curtain, you could lighten it without going pink :) . Or, from what I can tell in the pics, it looks like paint on the lower half of the walls also. How about putting the dark color (cranberry or whatever) on the bottom and leaving the crisp white on top for the lightness? hth

Hi, Stumbled on your website looking for something entirely different but couldn't resist "playing" too! Believe it or not, the first thing that jumped out at me about the picture were the wooden cabinets. They were screaming, "Paint me!" It broke up your countertop and kept it from flowing. I always think painted cabinets looks SO MUCH BETTER! And it's so easy. And now for the color - I would try to make everything match the clay pink in the countertop. To me, no matter how many colors you could try to pick out of the stone, nothing is going to quite look natural. It may take a lot of paint samples before you hit on a natural pink color but it's worth the effort. You may or may not like the color of your countertops but if you want to keep the countertop, in my opinion, that's the only color that works. However, I think it's a pretty color and very compatible to live with. My mother wallpapered a huge kitchen in clay pink and people have flipped over it - everyone who's seen it. It's a lot of pink because she also matched the countertop in pink and the curtains are also pink (warm mauve). Right off from the kitchen is a little bathroom and she made that pink as well and it's been a crowd pleaser. My dad didn't mind either. It wasn't as offensive as it sounds. But as long as your countertops are that color, nothing else looks right even though professionals will probably tell you you can pull out different colors. And next are the floors. Don't know if you want to change them but a color (another shade of pink) would make it seem warmer and tie things together. If there's such a thing as light, shiny (like the tile you have) pink, that would be GORGEOUS! But you could also go darker pink - but strive for a shade of pink. Or you could do warm wooden floors but that's probably too complicated flowing in with the rest of the house, right? Don't know if you want to put beadboard on the bottom half of the wall. That breaks up the wall and is always pretty in bathrooms. You could paint the beadboard the same color as you did the top half but it would still add more styling. Another thing that might make the bath seem cold to you is that large, nice mirror. You might want a mirror in a frame. Maybe even an oval shape? Once again, I always like to paint any woodwork and that goes for mirror frames. Like everyone else is suggesting, curtains help a lot. Maybe light sheer curtains in a shade of pink or creamy off white. Try to avoid grey and beige (real downers) unless the beige is more of an offwhite. Hope this helps and good luck!

I've always likes Mona's home. She has excellent taste. Have you tried painting a large poster board and taping it to the wall and leaving it a few days in all light? I narrow it down to a few colors and paint the foam board and move it around the room for a few days in the different lights of the day. I will tell you though. I have a terrible dislike to sage green. LOL. Also blue. It took me a LONG time to find a blue I liked for my laundry. I think it was my Mother's love for painting EVERTHING these two colors as a child and I swore to never paint anything these again. Ok so anyhow FF to my sister who just painted several room in her house Restoration Hardware Sycamore green. It looks *really* pretty. I would have her take a picture. She is so opposite of internet savvy it would be her mailing a poloroid to you in the mail. here are some I found online though FYI she had is mixed in Behr paint. I agree with Sue - a dark milk chocolate to match the dark color in the tile. The vanity and shower curtain will show up nicely against that color. After painting, come back with another picture and get help with accent colors. Definitely get rid of the red.
