32-bit or 64-bit??

I am about to download a trial version of NOD32 and it is asking me what bit (32-bit or 64-bit)Operating System I have. I know it is Windows xp but I can't seem to find any information about "the bits". I've looked everywhere I could think of, (to no avail) and now I'm stumped...where do I look to find the answer?

This is according to MS at the link below:

Microsoft Windows XP Professional
Method 1
1. Click Start, click Run, type sysdm.cpl, and then click OK.
2. Click the General tab. The operating system appears as follows:
Â For a 64-bit version operating system: Microsoft Windows XP Professional x64 Edition Version appears under System.
Â For a 32-bit version operating system: Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version appears under System.
Note is a placeholder for a year.
Method 2
1. Click Start, click Run, type winmsd.exe, and then click OK.
2. In the details pane, locate Processor under Item. Note the value.
Â If the value that corresponds to Processor starts with x86, the computer is running a 32-bit version of the Windows operating system.
Â If the value that corresponds to Processor starts with ia64 or AMD64, the computer is running a 64-bit version of the Windows operating system.

well, I got the number now. It turns out, they asked me to read the code of the back of 64 bit dvd, instead of the 32 bit dvd. They needed the 32 bit number. Yes, I noticed Flash was not working. I keep downloading it, but it won't show up. Now, I can at least go back to the 32 bit now, if I want, but the reason, I want to stay with the 64 bit, is that full versions work better then upgrades. Someone told me that. If I known it was better to spend more money to get a full version, but i did not know that when I bought the upgrade. Once someone there figured out, I need to read the 32 disc number on the back, they found me a code. I am posting in case anyone else runs into this problem.

It means that the version of Internet Explorer you are using will work with both 32 bit and 64 bit operating systems. Have you tried Moxzilla Firefox? I prefer it over explorer.

After the later part of this month I believe it the official start date... when you buy a new pc from most all of the major pc makers, they will give you a coupon or someway to get a free copy of the October release of Windows 7. Right now I have noticed on newegg if you buy Vista program they give you a free upgrade to windows 7. I would imagine that all the main vendors of microsoft softwares will do the same. Think if I were buying a single copy of win7 ultimate I might as well buy the online subscription to microsofts dealer or tech net for $350 and get access to download many softwares and registrations for self use free.

Found this on another forum which may help\; Microsoft has a free download for Vitural PC. With this program running in your Windows Vista 64 bit environment, you can run a Windows XP 32 bit environment, and launch an MS DOS environment from there. Additionally, you can create as many of these virtual environments as you want. Unfortunately, Microsoft requires you to have both a Windows XP licience iand a Vista Licence if you are going to run both Vista and XP (even with one in the virtual world). If you own a regerestered copy of XP, I'm told that a work around to this potential problem is to reinstall your virtual XP environment when the preceeding one experies it's 30 day registration requirement. Or; Download virtualbox from Sun for free and run a virtual instance of win xp 32bit, win vista 32bit ...I would suspect licencing for whatever os you choose ie XP or Vista would also apply after the trial period. I have never tried this , just reporting what I have found
