songs won't drop into Media Player- can anyone help?

I guess nobody knows or wants to answer- I'll ask again!

I have WMP- I have used it before. Now, when I try to drag a song from a library to the right-hand side, playlist the positive(+) sign turns to negative(-) as soon as I cross over onto the WMP site- what have I done to screw this up? I can't download any songs- the tech at my computer server doesn't know what to do either.

Help, please.

I don't know anything about the Windows Media Player, but If I had a problem w/any program I would reinstall it.

What version of Windows Media Player?

What operating system do you use?

zep- I start/control/wmp- is is '11'. It has been reinstalled by the tech- there is also 'wmp runtime'. Is that part of this same program or what?? I have winxp2000. I can't drop songs in from anywhere- iTunes, Spiralfrog or Rapsody.

Good morning! Today is the deadline. Linda had to drop out and I received Camen's information so I only need box names for two participants. I sent them a reminder email. If I don't hear from them by 7:00pm EST, they will have to skip the guessing name and will be placed last and 2nd to last in the picking order based on when they joined the swap, so I hope they remember in time. It's more fun when everyone plays! A short time after 7:00 pm I will post a guessing game and everyone will have until 1:00 pm tomorrow to post their answer. You can guess anytime between those times. I will explain when I post the game how the winner(s) will be determined. Anyone who does not guess will be placed at the end based on the order they signed up for the swap in. If you have any questions, shoot me an email. I am at home today and will check back often. MP3 player has songs but I can't hear them

Hi Zep, I went ahead and upgraded to mp10 for my system. It seems nice so I'll go with it thanks. Unfortunately I still can't get the songs onto my pos mp3 player, there must be something wrong with it is all I can figure. I am able to rip songs from my cd's fine but the whole transfering them thing just isn't working. I am going to try the mp3 player in another computer at work tomorrow and I'll go from there. Remember we've had this thing for a few years just sitting in a closet with how to speak german on it so its no big loss. I'll go get another simple yet fairly inexpensive model at w-mart to learn on. I'm not giving up on this because I'm tired of listening to the boring elevator music the local station plays here in the middle of nowhere. Thanks, Neal

I wouldn't use the word "transfer" to describe the process, but the answer to your question is Yes. Using MP3tag (which is quite easy), you either direct the program to the sound file folder, or drag the sound file from an Explore window to the MP3tag window. The tag fields will be visible, complete the fields (or add new ones) as you wish, then save. The updated info will be in the sound file, the sound file doesn't move anywhere. When you then open the sound file with whatever player software you use, the tag data will be visible. Normally, the tag data is already completed when you buy music from places like itunes store or Amazon, or the information gets filled in when a CD is ripped. Most of the ripping software, and indeed MP3tag, have look up features, meaning, when you rip a CD, it can identify what album it is coming from and automatically get complete tag info for each track from any of several internet sources. When dealing with individual tracks, I know of no look up approach to use. Although, maybe Music Brainz could help?

Sure, somebody wants to come up with a answer for you.
On the other thread it was about Spiralfrog login, then you tacked on another problem about wmp at the end.
You've lost me at positive and negative.
I have a wmp 11 copy that I can look at but I don't see no + or -
Should be able to drag any song that's on your computer to the playlist, I don't think you'll be able to just drop songs into your playlist from the internet. They would need to be downloaded to your computer first.

I guess I don't communicate well.....
Zep- the wmp runtime is in my start/computer/add/remove. It looks like there are 2 parts when wmp is downloaded?

randy- When you have your wmp going- and want to drag/drop a song from the left hand column(library), to the right hand column(sync)- there is a very small '+' sign when dragging the song- it is very little and stays with the song as you are dragging it.
I reinstalled wmp again- now the '+' is working, but when I try to sync it, it 'fails/error', and does not sync. I have the song in a file, then it automatically goes to my library. But it doesn't 'load to the Sansa.

I see the + sign now. I don't know, I can drag and drop with ease.
Does the computer recognize the Sansa when
you plug it into your computer.

Are you using wmp 10 or 11? I wonder if I had 10, then the tech reloaded a bunch of things-???
