You have to be patient when it comes to Flash updates. They sometimes take an unusual amount of time to configure. As an alternative you could save the download to your system, close all open windows including browsers, and then install from the stored location. This protocol does alleviate the reference of the dedicated browser referred to by RC. DA

Zep, thank you for helping. Just before I read your last post I went to the Adobe forum and other people were having the same problems tonight. Someone had already posted links using a 32 bit download so I tried that and it worked and the regular Shockwave Plug in showed up on my plug in page as enabled. I don't know what 32 bit or 64 bit means or even if I need the 64 bit but I will see if this works. You helped me a few years ago with a computer problem I had so thank you again. Anne

I dont have the link to the trouble repair method on adobe site but basically its.... look in task manager for Macromedia & Flash Player, end all processes you find there.. Uninstall from control panel....then use the uninstall tool, delete all the folders and files you can find on the hard drive... Restart before installing fresh. Going back to my tech support days, you need to clear your flash cache, if you are on a page containing flash you can right click on it and get into your flash control panel that way, there might even be a control panel for it settings>control panels, lastly if I recall somewhere on the adobe flash download page I think on the left there is some sort of settings option there, click on it and it'll have a bunch of tabs. You probably want to clear the cache out and see if that helps. You could also try add/remove programs, uninstall it, reinstall/reboot. Have you edited your registry before? Did you back it up first, to a separate disk? You can do very bad things messing with your registry if something goes wrong.
