What can I put my activated charcoal in?
Comments (11)I got the brainy idea to use a mesh type laundry bag. I purchased it at Walmart. It is used to put hosiery or delicate items in the washer and it is wonderful. It has holes but keeps the charcoal in...and it's about the shape of a pillowcase. I placed it in the filter falls, I laid it flat, perfect fit. It shouldn't disenegrate in water because that's what it is used for...washing in water...It has been great! mine is about 2 inches thick with the charcoal, it has cleared up my tea water wonderfully. Comments (1)I use an amount of charcoal that will be about 2 coals high when it's ready to use and spread out. Until charcoal is ready to use, you don't want to shut the lid, the fumes need to burn off first. As long as it still smells like lighter fluid, the lid should stay open. Using more than you really need is never a bad accident, but not enough can ruin your dinner. Err on the side of too much. When you're ready to cook, you can close the lid and adjust the vents to prevent flare-ups. Open more = more air, hotter fire, charcoals don't last as long. Usually we'll have the bottom vent barely cracked and the top vent about double that. 250 is plenty hot enough to cook about anything, probably too hot for thicker piece of chicken that would be burned on the outside before the inside was done. The temperature a few inches above the coals is much hotter if that's what the lid thermostat says (which I don't put much faith in, easy to find a cheap oven thermometer to set in a corner to check it.) Meat thermometer is a good idea to have so you don't have to guess or judge by appearance. Once you've used it a few times, you'll get more comfortable and "good" at it....See Moregrout sealer faded my charcoal grout?!
Comments (3)If the sealer is applied to heavy it leaves a white residue. Apply some sealer to the white areas to reactivate and wipe off. I came across this years back when a GC decided to have his guys seal the shower I had just completed. The old "why pay a tile setters rate when my laborers can do it for a fraction of the cost" The method I mention is what the sealer manufacturer suggested and it worked. Cost the GC Big time. Of course GC asked me to save the project. It was the instant Karma. Sorry you own it now:) Hope this works for you. Good luck....See MoreHelp me design around my charcoal couch and love seat
Comments (86)This is all FB marketplace stuff! Even the sand dollar print and dining room table. It’s cherry wood, it wasn’t cheap, but definitely less than what I would have paid new. The trunk was my great grandfather’s. I can definitely move the starburst to the dining area. That makes a lot of sense. I also like the idea of framed family photos. It would be nice to display some of that. Someone mentioned the sheers. I think I need those for privacy. Although without the room being one big wide open space, maybe I don’t need that as much? Years ago we didn’t have sheers and when my neighbor across the street moved away, he mentioned that he could see right into my living room....See Moretoytheatre13
