Try a simple reboot first or restart, If that does not work then; un plug the router and modem. Then plug modem in wait for 30 sec. Then plug router in. See if that helps. I can't understand how it's possible to lose a network driver on a new machine or any machine for that matter drivers just don't disappear!

I truly appreciate all your help mikie!It is so difficult for me to explain exactly what is going on.I only know computer basics and just enough terminology to be confusing. LOL Currently,I am connecting to the internet by going to Earthlink.net and clicking on the set up button. I am accessing my e-mail through Earthlink.net, too. That is the only way I can connect to webpages.I can no longer connect using on desktop icons or by going to internet connections. The problem started when I allowed a Belkin auto setup to program my wireless router to my computer. Even if I disconnect the router and try to connect the way I did before the router I still can not connect through my computer. The only reason I mentioned proxy server was that when earthlink had me join teamviewer4, teamviewer4 stated I was on a proxy server and that I needed to connect with my computer connection. I am basing my statement on that info. I may not be on a proxy server. Is connecting through Earthlink.net connecting to a proxy server? I have not called earthlink back yet as the tech seems to get frustrated with my problem before it can be corrected. Also, it is a minimum 1 hour call each time.

In some cases people use a power strip or some type of plug in strip for all their pc equipment, once the pc is shut down and then they want to shut down the rest they just hit that one button on the strip and turn off all the power to everything, that can be good in a storm when you need to shut down everything fast. However when powering back up it can be a problem if that one button is switched and everything tries to power up at the same time instead of the proper sequence, so if that is the case it is a good practice to unplug your router before turning on the power button on that strip, so that the modem can do it's thing and gain the settings then plug in the router and let it do it's thing, once those are done all the rest of the stuff pc and laptop etc can be turned on. I know I am guilt of having done that especially in a storm, then I forget and just turn the power button on and every time I do that at least one item usually my PDN or my husbands laptop will have a problem connecting. glad you got it working again just remember that for future reference.
