I would try to do a Restore. If that doesn't work, does your PC have a built-in Recovery function? Or, do you have Windows CDs? You'll know for next time to never delete anything in the Programs folder. And, the date shown in the default view is the date modified (saved), not date last accessed. Assume that all main operating system files and utilities will have dates that are earlier than the date you bought the computer. Never touch 'em.

I checked my computer at home which has a wifi connection. The control panel does not have a selection labeled...networks&sharing. It does have some selections labeled...internet options...network connections...wireless network setup wizard,,,network setup wizard. None of these when clicked on bring up a wifi selection screen. This computer is a dell desktop at least ten years old so that may be the reason. Even though I have wifi on this home computer I do not remember how I did it. I checked the office computer which is again a dell system that is about 5 years old. The same result as with the home computer. When you say a step icon I am not sure what that looks like. Is this task bar at the top or bottom of the screen. Currently I am still running xp on both systems. The computer at the office is using a phone dial up system. Yes... a dial up system...but it works and is reliable. I think my best bet is to just wait till the new computer we ordered is delivered and set that one up with the sharing. The current office computer will be set aside and continue with the dial up. It no longer will be used to surf the web. Its only function will be to retrieve any emails that are needed and send them to the new system. Using xp in this way should not be a problem.

I assume that I will have to change my remote id from Comcast back to the remote that originally came with my TV. Are we talking about the remote control for the television? If so, it is the remote that's programmed to work with the TV, not the other way around. Although some "universal" remotes can be iffy with advanced features, so you may be best using the original remote control for the TV. If the TV is Internet enabled and you want to use a wireless connection, then the SSID and password (if security is enabled) must match that of the new router. Of course, you could change the SSID and password of the new router to match the old router. Also I have a second tv upstairs that I would want to also use this wireless connection. Would I just have to buy a second modem/router and use the same software that I would get from AT&T. No. One of the functions of the router is to distribute the Internet connection to computers and devices in your home via wired and/or wireless connections. Again the upstairs TV would need to be programmed to the correct SSID and password. Also I have a second computer about a mile away that I would want to hook up to this same wireless connection also. Again I assume I would just need another modem/router and use the same software once again. That would be problematic. WiFi just doesn't have that kind of range nor could you run a mile long Ethernet cable. You'd likely need a second service from AT&T. I don't know about Earthlink. Most ISP's give you a free email account (or in some cases, multiple accounts) with service. You will need to ask Earthlink what happens to your email account if you discontinue their service. They may allow you to keep the email account active for a small monthly fee. AT&T will give you a free email account with their service as well. You may wish to just migrate or use one of the free services like Gmail or Hotmail and not be tied to the ISP.

the 100Mbps is not telling you your internet speed connection it is simply telling you the ability of your router, most today are 10/100Mbps rated. This might help you understand that 10/100 devices mine also says 100 there likely everyone in here would have 100 there too. cox has multiple tiers of service you pay x amount of money for x amount of speed you would need to check your contract to know which tier you are paying for to know if you are getting the proper speed. I am also on cox and if you look way up in this old post you will see my speed test which is much much faster than yours so I would assume you have a lower tier of internet service with them. I do not have any other services with them so I have no bundle just strictly internet.
