I have heard mixed reviews on AJ Madision, but ABT is very reputable. They have a store front in the suburbs of Chicago and I have been to that store. I would use ABT in a heart beat to buy from online.

I got my induction range from AJ Madison. No problem except that I ordered it way too soon, to take advantage of a sale. Took another 22 months to get it installed, so warranty was expired! Fired up okay (whew!). A neighbor got a Dacor refrigerator from them, no problem.

I ordered a Broan hood from fullhouseappliances.com, cheap and quick, no problem. They are also the cheapest source I have for the Sharp microwave drawer, but I'm waiting until the kitchen is done done done to buy that. They do have an onerous obnoxious tone to their web site.

My advice - NOOOO! Sure, maybe statistically most people have no problems. But what if you're that one person who does? The cost of shipping anything back is astronomical - that's assuming you're dealing w/ someone reputable with a reasonable return policy who would take it back or isn't a crook who plays games with you trying to run out the clock & give you the runaround until the 60 day time limit for filing a chargeback on your VISA has expired.

Whatever you do, don't buy anything from C o m pa ct App liances dot com. That was without a doubt the most bizarre buying experience of my entire life.

Me, I'm to the point where I won't even buy large items locally unless I know it has a decent return policy - a 60 day return period and they take back defective merchandise - that leaves Sears, Home Depot and Menards and that's about it. What they get in return is my loyalty as a customer. Since I keep far more items than I return, it works out for them too.

I purchased mine on line because I live in the middle of nowhere. I would gladly have purchased locally.
A schlep into Seattle is 1 hour ride to the ferry, 1/2 hour on the ferry and then navigating Seattle (which I am not very familiar with). Then you have to come back.

It's 2013, people. If you aren't buying pretty much all of your non-perishable products online, you're exponentially overpaying for everything.
But hey, reading the posts here, it's obvious that most of y'all are 1%ers to whom money means nothing. :-/

Well then you didn't read very carefully because only one of the posts here advised against buying large (key word large) items online. "Most of ya'll"? Whatever.

My closeout floor model Sears Kenmore fridge cost way less than anything comparable online, with far less aggravation.

I am going to buy my double oven, fridge, and range hood from build.com. I am going to buy the extended warranty from Elux directly after purchase. The internet was the best price and I don't have brick stores near me that have the appliances where you can actually see them or service them (ie: Sears).
