I do know my mother's home has an older three light chandelier in her entry hall. It does not look lopsided at all. It is small to match the nature of the small hallway. I tend to be very particular about the way something looks, so I am pretty sure I would have noticed over the years. What you are thinking of sounds really nice to me. I hope this helps some!

while I don't have one in my bathroom, my friend renovated 4 small bathrooms and put a chandelier in each - it looks great.

I would love to have enough ceiling height for a chandelier, but at 7'....

I've seen plenty of three light chandeliers, but never one that looked off-balance, unless it was one that originally had four arms. :)

i put a chandy in our master bath and i love it! looks elegant...

the chandy i chose is a 5 arm chandy...didn't even think about the odd # of lights when i chose it and i understand what your friend means by 'lopsided' (although i don't think i've seen any 3 armed, the issue partially is the odd # i think...)-- every once in awhile, depending on the angle i look at our light it does look slightly off kilter...but only from cerain angles.....but i'm used to a 6 arm in the kitchen and an 8 arm in the dining room, so maybe it depends on what you're used to seeing...

I was told by my electrician its against code to have one in the bathroom within a certian number of feet of the tub. basically with my 8.5' ceilings I couldn't have one over the tub, and if I wanted one, it would have to be X distance from the edge...

we have an octogon box with a covered light installed waiting for final inspection to change out to a small chandelier...

I appreciate that the code is trying to save me from my own stupidity... but I think I can handle it on this one.

That's what we were told, too chrisk327. No open lights over tub. Or in a closet "in case a lightbulb were to explode and spray hot filament on clothing.." But maybe that's just in MN, because I see them often!
