The situation may be too tense at this point, but could you ask the neighbor to call you with the plan to let them come inside your unit during a "stomping episode" to prove to them that sound travels and it's not coming from your unit? Ideally one of them could come upstairs and another could wait from within the unit. Or perhaps management could send one person to each unit and see how loud it really is (are expectations unreasonable?) and upstairs you will have a witness that normal movements are happening upstairs regardless of what they hear. If you have any travel plans, could you use this to your advantage to establish it as a fact that they are hearing noise from another unit? It's obvious they don't believe this. Anything for them to stop calling the police, because that is clearly not solving anything and is wasting city resources... what an awful wake-up call for you.

I couldnt even open a hotmail page, let alone log in. After several days, it came back on it's own. I didnt do anything. Today ... I cant get on again. I get: "Login Error Windows Live Hotmail was not able to sign in to your account at this time. Please try again later." What's frustrating is that if the people on this site are aware that there is a problem ... why do the people at microsoft seem oblivious? There's nothing on their web site. During the day or so when I was able to get in, there was no e-mail from them alerting me to the problem and assuring me that it was being fixed. Nothing. Get the distinct impression that they dont care.

I ran the Troubleshooter, and it said it found no problems. The Update Readiness Tool didnâÂÂt find/fix the problem either. The taskbar icon for updates still has a red x by it and still says that Windows couldnâÂÂt search for new updates. I tried the System File Checker, but it came up with the message Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation. IâÂÂm wondering if thatâÂÂs caused by the same problem or an entirely different one. I guess my next step is to let someone read the cbs log, as suggested by zep. I'll go to LandzDown for that. Dee

With the multi-point locking systems, you have the bolt that extends out into the secondary door (or door frame if you only have 1 door) at the level of the handle, you have a smaller "bolt" that extends out of the top of the door into the upper door frame and one that extends out the bottom of the door into the sill. When the lock is engaged, all these bolts are sticking out. If someone engages the locks with the door open then tries to shut it, the bolts slam into the surrounding frame and damage it. Walk into just about any showroom with French doors on display and take a look at the frames (especially the upper frame). That was one of Pella's selling points was that their mechanism was made to push back into the door if the lock was engaged with the door open and you then tried to shut it. After it was shut, the locks slid back out of the door and into place within the frame & the door is locked with no damage to the surrounding frame, sill or adjacent door. If you're worried about not having a multi point system for security reasons, you can always do a regular deadbolt and slide bolts at the top & bottom. Typically the slide bolts will be much longer than the short little bolts on the integrated multi-point system for a higher level of security IMO. My thoughts on this is that its overkill--if an intruder wants in, he's going to find a way--odds are he will just break the glass and turn the locks whether multi-point or deadbolt. Plus deadbolts & slide bolts are easier to remember how to operate--there is usually a trick to engaging the multi-point lock system. I think with my Mom's doors you have to turn the lock a couple times then flip the lever up to engage the lock. Your secondary swing door of the French door set should bolt in place. That's the biggest part of how the primary swing door is secured when locked. Hope this helps!
