Bluestar griddle can not get hotter than 350.

I have a bluestar 36" RNB with griddle that is 4 months old. I noticed the maximum griddle surface temp does not get any hotter than 350 degrees, though the thermostat knob goes up to 550. I called BS and they have been very good about sending new parts and a serviceman to fix my new range, but so far nothing has worked.

At this point BS has replaced the griddle burner, the griddle thermostat, and most recently the entire griddle plate (they made me a new one with a metal heat shield over where the thermostat probe goes. Took 2 weeks in fabrication - They say this is the new design). None of these parts has made any difference. I'm afraid it is just a bad design. Shouldn't a griddle be able to get hotter then 350?
