I have been shopping for a new refrigerator to replace a wonderful Kitchenaid top freezer/ single door WITH ice and water dispenser in the door. It was only made for a few years. This frig has served us faithfully for 17 years. I found the Whirlpool Latitude GI7FVCXX (last year's # GI7FVCXW). It is a Whirlpool Gold French Door w/ ice & water in the door. The compatible KA has the "left door auto shut" feature which is a deal breaker for us. The dispenser is built into the door, allowing unobstructed shelf space in the frig. Anyone have this refrigerator, or have an opinion? The warranty on KA is much, much better, but the price is much higher also.

Very interesting animation. We have friends who like their Asko very much. I chose Miele because I really wanted the top cutlery tray rather than the basket. Comparing our Miele to the Asko animation: Miele also has three sprayers. You can remove the middle rack for big items, lower or raise the middle rack for spacing, & can remove 1/2 or all of the cutlery tray for taller items in the middle rack. Not having to make room for a cutlery basket really opens up the space in the lower rack. Although our model has recently been replaced, the major features appear to still be there. I didn't think we'd need it, but our Miele monitors water hardness & utilizes dishwasher salt to automatically soften the water, which improves cleaning. (You can turn this off.)

I worked for Viking Cooking School in Memphis, Tn. We bought all new Viking appliances with my employee discount after I had been there a few months. I heard some bad reviews, but I thought we'd give them a try since I got a 50% discount. I'm pretty sure we've spent the difference in service calls and parts since they were installed in 2010. I have never dealt with a company that cares less about standing behind it's products. I know all products have problems, but not like Viking. We are constantly having to replace the dishwasher's switch for $75 a pop for the part, a cheap plastic piece breaks after so many pushes. The service call is another $70. The repairman finally showed me how to replace it myself to save the labor expense. My gas oven was not properly assembled and I had bursts of flames coming out the top as i was cooking. This was within the first week. I had to fight with the warranty department to cover it. They eventually did, but it took many phone calls and arguments. Also, my first dishwasher leaked. I would have put a towel down and continued using it while we were waiting to hear from the warranty department, but we have wood floors that would have been damaged. We were without a dishwasher for three months the second year we had it. After teaching cooking classes at Viking for four years, most of the appliances did not work properly or at all because a part wasn't available (a 2 year old oven). It's really bad. So bad.

Antss....not trying to say anything. I said it. Don't understand why clarification needed. I've said 105F is warm water....probably cooler than you'd use in the sink if you were hand washing. It isn't hot enough for the detergent to do what it's supposed to do in the machine. I would not run ANY DW cycle at such a low temperature. If the machine I own delivered only that, I would regard it as broken. In fact, that's why I just replaced my machine. The relay controlling the heating element failed and there was no capability of heat-boost to an acceptable temperature. (And fixing that 9-year-old machine would have cost too much.) I was left with washing temperature of about 105F, terrible cleaning, and no drying. The OP stated that his hottest wash temperature was 105 which I said was "ridiculous" because it is. If OP's machine is not capable of boosting to at least 120F, I regard that as unacceptable....which is what I said. OP has not responded. I suspect he does, in fact, have a machine that is capable of heating the wash-water above 105 but the heating element is not working properly....but don't know. 120 is the typical "normal" temp dishwashers use. Except for OP's machine, I am aware of none that will not do this in the "normal" cycle. 140-145 is the typical "hot wash" boost, available on many/most machines and gives better cleaning -- of course at the expense of more energy use. 155+ is what DW's typically offer in their "sani-rinse" cycles. Wash temperature is lower than that but the final rinse is boosted way up.
