New bath, inspired by pps7 - AO Catarina

My inspiration was pps7's lovely remodel pics. Unfortunately, my space was not large enough for the wall panels/wainscotting.

They still have to grout the tile, install the shower glass and paint. I picked a very safe SW north star for the walls ;) All the trim will be white.

I know the 10 x 13 only comes in polished. Not sure about the 12 x 12. We have honed 12 x 12 on our floor and polished 10 x 13 on our shower wall.

I just looked at the Marazzi on their website. It's VERY pretty! We have a lot of Marazzi porcelain tile in our house...kitchen, laundry room, two bathrooms, small hall part of our den and a 15x15 dining room. Two patterns, three colors and 4 sizes. DH installed it all. He has no complaints about the quality of the tile (installation wise). Here is our travertine look porcelain from Marazzi in the master bath and the tile in the dining room (the darker of the two colors is everywhere else). Bar base STILL unfinished (can't decide what to do with it)

AO catarina tile - smudges and sealing?

I have the matte finish AO Catarina on my bath floor. It seems to smudge easily. Especially from dog paws and some shoes. Has anyone else noticed this? It's also pretty new and has not been sealed. I have the same tile in my shower but polished finish. Any recommendations on sealing the tile? I've never done it before. Thanks!

Sorry, Cotton, I was gone most of the day yesterday, & I'm having rotten wood replaced on the house exterior today. Busy morning. I'm wondering about a more espresso colored "wood" tile? The one pictured is feeling too orangey to me. I think (just my opinion) that limiting colors with a look this clean & simple but elegant, is the way to go. I'd do a tile that is as close as possible to the vanity, then use light area rugs, maybe in your wall color, or white rugs with wonderful, luxurious texture. Elements on the floor in your cool metals, such as your trash can or towel stand, etc., will also provide contrast & interest. The way I envision it: Wall color, marble, espresso. Not wall color, espresso vanity, mahogany floor, marble. (Fwiw!) Too many different colors & elements will interrupt the flow, imo. (Others will surely differ on this!) This is a very restrained look you are creating. My take on it is to edit the superfluous.

I think it might be because I was on a mobile device when I posted them. It's easier to do this from a real PC. This should work.

Wow, Sparks, I love it! I have plans to use the AO tile in my master bath too!

Everything is gorgeous. Would you share all the details? What kind of tub is that? What grout did you use? Will you be getting a glass shower door?

I see you opted not to do the bench in the shower or a niche in the shower wall. Would you share your thoughts on why you selected not to add those features? I like the way it looks w/out, just wondering.

I think you did a really marvelous job!

Thanks. I'm really happy with the way it turned out.

I was worried it might end up feeling cramped but it doesn't at all. Plus the fact that we had it done while living 1000 miles away was sometimes difficult. I gave VERY specific instructions to our GC. The only thing they did wrong was the shower bench, its missing! We discussed it several times so I'm not sure how it happened. I didn't make a big deal out of it because I want the project done ASAP.

I also wanted a niche or two but with the plumbing/the studs and the exterior wall, it wouldn't work. Instead he put two small corner shelves.

We are putting a nameless glass surround up.

Grout on floor is gray. Not sure what the wall group will be until its up.

I'll have finished pictures the end of September.

I am very familiar with pps7's bathroom! Yours is just as spectacular, imo. Please post pics when all is completed!
