Thanks, I may have been less than clear. All I want to remove is the list of email addresses that came with the email to me. In the case of Thunderbird I have 2.0.0.24, the forward causes a new email to open and the information to be forwarded is an attachment - i.e., no way to delete any of its parts. I'll try the copy and just start a new original message and paste it in. I think I tried that before and found problems when the message being forwarded had an attachment. Hum, in that case,and if it is the attachment I really want, I could save the attachment on my Desk Top and use it as an attachment in a totally new email construction. I had used Outlook for business for many years, and when one forwards that, on has access to the forwarded information...and I think email list. Thunderbird is fine, but as the saying goes it isn't "industrial strength".. such as Outlook is. Another thing I liked in Outlook was when I saved a messages I could modify the subject line to be more meaningful to me, then save the message. Thunderbird doesn't allow me to modify the received email - or I just haven't tried hard enough. Maybe Thunderbird is trying to prevent plagiarism ;).

It IS a very strange situation, indeed. And here's some more weirdness. None of the e-mails stay on the server...I double checked and everything was downloaded, per the settings. When I first started looking for a prog to replace WLM, I started using Outlook....but the e-mails were disappearing from the Inbox. I thought it was a problem with Outlook and even posted a query here on the forum. Never solved that issue, but disliking WLM more as time went on, I gave up on Outlook and thought I'd try Thunderbird. Then the same thing started happening! I had made TB the default and set WLM to NOT check automatically for mail....BUT...when I would open WLM to look at something in a folder there, it would check for mail on Startup and all my e-mails would show up. That's when all the messages in TB would disappear. When I realized this was happening, I opened Outlook, sent some test messages there and watched as they disappeared before my eyes when I opened WLM. Do you think maybe I'm incorrect about the mail staying on the server? Wouldn't I see it there when I go online to check?

Steve J I don't understand why Comcast, or any ISP, would prefer IMAP. It requires much more server-side storage space since all content is always kept there. I run into that problem with the small web hosting service I run. The leased server doesn't provide unlimited storage. A particular client's office employees want to access mail from multiple devices -- their office computers, their phones, a couple also use iPads. Those using IMAP via all devices are constantly maxing-out their storage allowance and have to be diligent with housekeeping (moving message out of server storage to local folders in their Outlook). I personally do not care for the idea of keeping mail content on a server vs. my own computer. IMO a server is much more likely to get compromised than is my computer. I want my e-mail permanently stored on my computer under my control, not on the ISP's server which is subject to their whims.

Well, this just happened with the Microsoft/Windows Mail app. OK so it's been saying that "Microsoft Mail will become Outlook" so I figured that I would just go ahead and update it...well, it doesn't work anymore with the yahoo dot com email account. I entered my password to set up the new Outlook switch over and it said something went wrong. It's doing the same thing as when I tried it was Thunderbird! UGH! I give up on that Outlook client/Microsoft Mail thingy. It wasn't retrieving my emails anyway, so what's the point? I do have a gmail email account and am I the only one in the world that absolutely does not like gmail at all and avoid having it use it. I only have a few things going to it. I think that I can also link that yahoo account to gmail but I'm not sure how to do that and don't want to mess things up. :O I guess that I will probably have to just gradually get things out of the yahoo mail and change them over to that gmail account. There are some things that go to the yahoo mail that I was unable to find a way to change the associated email address though. That's kind of why I continue to hang unto that old yahoo email address that I have had for probably 25 years? I think anyway! Mrs. S We have been having log in issues with yahoo mail on and off now for about 6 months. I have the issue with the switching between two accounts but just last week, my husband who only has the ONE account that he uses, suddenly could not log into his account for about 3 days. You are right, they say nothing about the outage. It's sporadic though because when he was having his issues, I was able to get into my email without issues. He was able to log into his on a different computer or with his phone. It's just strange how yahoo is acting. Do they want people to stop using them for emails? Trying to make this difficult so we will just go away? I don't get it! UGH!
