The world's the same place with or without Mozilla, but people in or aspiring to have any kind of public-facing position should understand up-front that any association with extreme views won't have a happy ending. MOST ESPECIALLY in the tech world, which has more tolerance and diversity of all kinds than just about any other segment of business or community in the US I can think of.

What are popular alternative to Firefox and Thunderbird, just "because"?

I agree and am disgusted about what happened. Although I am pro marriage between any people who love each other, his choice of contribution should not factor into his skill or job position.

I have used Firefox for as long as I can remember, but do not like supporting a company who discourages a persons right to personal opinion.

How about Chrome? Not crazy about anything Google, but might consider them.

I'll "google" and see what I get. There must be a Chrome Blog. There is a Mozilla Blog and it has one thread I read talking about how the CEO resigned... yea, it wasn't because he no longer cared about the "stated" Mozilla credo (mission) which has nothing to do with social matters beyond making freeware. .

Still, Mozilla is a business, must be advertisement revenue (my Firefox if full af adds related to "stuff" I have done some window shopping on). I'll guess the CEO makes at least 10 times the average income. It is a business for those who work there.

I think you've answered your own question. Stick with Micro$oft...nothing to be displeased about there...no not at all.

I can hardly wait for your first post after making the switch to a new email client. It will undoubtedly look something like this:

"How do I perform such-and-such task in (((insert new program here)))? Why can't it work like Thunderbird? "

I use Firefox and Opera, both do a good job for me.

owbist, yes, Opera another familiar "brand". Thanks. As I may have said I consider Firefox second-rate compared to MS Exchange - but my needs since retirement are less "Industrial strength".

az... I prefer beer to wine in most situations and that makes cheese not real popular with me either. I do like pizza with beer however. Alcohol and food aside, I'd like Mozilla and others know when they fold to pressure from extremist they push other peaceful people to extreme reactions.

Somewhat bare bones, Slimbrowser. I don't use it regularly. However, it is set as my default browser so I can tinker with it.

Whether I agree or disagree with them, a person of responsible conviction is respected by this household.

I'm a Californian and am very familiar with the issue. Prop 8 (ultimately thrown out by the US Supreme Court) was an attempt by religious groups to impose their views on the general population.

Sadly, conduct like that continues to happen repeatedly on many different issues. I don't consider those who think it's acceptable to try to mandate the conduct of others (citing religious beliefs as the source of their views) to be holding responsible convictions.

As an issue, this one's a yawner at best. Mozilla is essentially an organization of public volunteers. It and its representatives have to avoid causing offense of any kind.

Once again you missed something. If an individual has a responsible conviction I don't have to like it, support it or agree with it. I may have great distain for it. I might not even care. All I have to do is respect the position as certain as I expect others to respect mine.

It is not my calling on this earth to spend my moments telling people how wrong they are, and how right I am. I leave that for a higher power.

The effort by political and several religious groups to impose their moral position on the general population is wrong, that was the issue with Prop 8.

No one has the right to try to control what others do in private or personal matters. Those who act otherwise, no matter what the motivation or reasoning, are not (in my view) pursuing what you described as a responsible conviction.

In this Mozilla incident, the "users" had the right to voice their displeasure with the choice, those on the receiving end had the right to listen or ignore what was being said. I'm somewhat sympathetic to the view that it shouldn't be that issues are decided by whoever yells the loudest but this is a private sector image issue, most certainly not a legal, ethical or moral one.

Wake up, I and most religious groups of which I am not a member, have a right to express their views including support for a voter's proposition.

As for Marriage, that "Term/Word" had a long standing definition, and it isn't any two or three or whatever can do whatever they want and call it Marriage. .If some what to do other than the traditional (long standing, how about a thousand years) meaning of the word Marriage, think up their own word. I don't lcare what they do. I am Married and I don't think I should have to explain what that means.

I am not telling people what they can do I'm saying Marriage is already defined in practice and law.

I am seeking an alternative to Mozilla due to that organization folding to those who would punish anyone who doesn't line up with their view, who, more than a few of us, believe the word Marriage is already in use and defined.

Tax law and rights to inheritance and hospital visitor access, to mention a few, doesn't require the mutilation of the word Marriage.

As so many times before I am through with this. I don't have the time, the energy, or the desire.

There are lots of words with historical meanings, like:

Landowner - that would be the aristocratic nobleman or church institution. The vast majority of the population was the peasant class who essentially toiled in bondage to them, with no individual rights at all.

Voter - that would be the male land owners. In the US it was the white, male land owners, with each of those qualifiers stripped off over time.

Jerry, that marriage definition argument is an old canard with really no significance. Societal rules change over time and so too do word definitions. Please have whatever views and beliefs you want. Express them as loudly and as often as you want. Just please stop short of trying to impose your beliefs on others, that's not how the system is supposed to work here. Although many continue to try.

Holy cow! I dozed off while reading "Replace Firefox and Thunderbird with ? ?" in the Computer Help forum to find my pc had somehow magically taken me to the Hot Topics forum. Amazing! ;-)

BTW, I love Google Chrome.
