ShowerGuard Glass on shower door?

Does anyone have ShowerGuard Glass treatment on their shower door? Here's the site: http://showerguardglass.com/

it's an option we can add to our frameless door (maybe about $400 more? sale person is going to get back to me) so wondering if it's worth the expanse... it's going to be on clear glass.

Yes we have rainguard, something like that. We live in Louisiana and the water is very hard. In the rental house we lived in after a couple of showers the door looked like frosted glass!
We've been in our new home about 5 months and I love the treated glass, we do squeegee after every shower but it stays clear for at least 2 weeks.
We also had the 'sanigard' feature for the Toto toilets. Hard water stains are a thing of the past.
It's certainly worth the extra $$ in my opinion!

Ours has Clear Shield (the glass company we used prefers that over ShowerGuard). The shower is in a guest bathroom, and will not see much use at all (except when the upstairs baths are being reno'd), but it was important to us to have it. Anything that cuts down on the likelihood that the glass will become etched and cloudy seems well worth the added expense.

We have Starphire glass, but ours is protected by Clear Shield. The place that did our shower doors uses Clear Shield rather than Shower Guard. Love the look of the clear glass! Our shower doors are on a guest bath shower, so outside of the months DH and I had to use the shower while reno'ing our other bathrooms, it doesn't see much use. Even so, we like knowing we "protected" the glass as best we could.

I just met with my contractor and the glass guy about these issues. I am going with the low iron glass and we are going to have the protectant fused into the glass during the manufacturing process instead of being applied to the surface where it will eventually wash/erode away and have to be recoated. My contractor has also suggested adding a system to my water heater that "softens" the water without the use of salt. Will this substantially add to the costs? Yes, it will. It's possible that I may have bought the Brooklyn Bridge.......

We just had a fellow in to measure our basement bathroom and give us some quotes. (He will get back to us Monday (It's Friday today). He said there are huge increases in price depending on the thickness of your glass- We decided to go semi-frameless, because of the angles involved- we need something on top anyways to hold it all together. So, how thick is the glass, could you go slightly less thick? Also, our appliance centre sells glass showers, and they said they have the best price in town. (I'll get a quote from them too, to compare to this guy- who is making a custom shower pan and walls for us). Maybe you could try another couple of sources to get an idea of prices. We have decided on having cultured marble and unfortunately, in our area, there is no other manufacturer- so I can't compare prices on that. But, with glass, there should be lots of sources.

You can save a bundle and just buy Clean-X Invisible Shield which is sold at www.showerdoorstore.com for 6.99 a bottle. I live close to their store and stopped by when I was researching doors. When I asked about that coating, the rep suggested the Clean-X saying it works the same way those protectors do for a fraction of the cost.

thanks! the company offers clearshield also, but the sales person said he likes showerguard better (more expansive though so who knows...) i think clearshield is a coating but showerguard is mixed in with the glass or something like that.

we just had a water softener installed so i wonder how much difference it'd be on the glass, compared to hard water.

I am getting Showerguard glass. I think it's a very worthwhile investment. It will add about $500 to the price of the glass (my shower is very large). The installers will be coming in about a week to measure for it. Once the order is placed, I hope to have the glass installed by early September (I will be away in late August, so the install won't be able to happen until September).

Even though the glass place I am buying from is an official Shower Guard dealer, they were pushing a similar product called Hydroshield, but I didn't want that. I want the Showerguard because it is infused into the glass. The other thing is that Hydroshield only comes with a 3-year warranty, but Showerguard gives you a 10-year warranty. I prefer to buy something that is guaranteed for a long time. I can't help but think that Shower Guard is a better product than Hydroshield, or why else wouldn't Hydroshield also stand behind their product for a 10 year period?

If you decide to go with a different product than Showerguard, make sure you carefully check out the warranty that is offered.

And one other thing. If you decide to go with the Showerguard, it is supposed to come with a sticker on the side that is supposed to face inward. Watch when they do the install and make sure they don't put the glass in backwards! If you aren't watching what they do and they make the mistake of installing it in reverse, they could just pull the sticker off and you'd never know. After all the remodel problems I've had, I don't trust anyone to do things correctly anymore!

I've recently installed a new shower glass with the shower guard infused in the glass. I've noticed that there seems to be stripes appearing. The shower hasn't yet been used. I tried calling the glass people who I bought it from and the number has been disconnected. Has anyone ever heard of this kind of defect?
